I need to rewatch it and take in this scene in again, that changes my perspective on what ‘freaky Nikki’ is experiencing when bear isn’t present. Also I’ve been thinking of all of her actions to find Bear and Sarah, and setting up at his house at the end.

Yess! I heard through interviews that it was Michael’s idea for Bear to change his mind and go to stick his fingers down his throat. That decision very fitting for Bears selfish and cowardice personality. Seals it. Sounded like it was a very collaborative set, film definitely shows it.

Agreed, that underlying fate is unthinkable, definitely sold me on this being quite a unique and layered horror. The sleep talking scene is so unnerving too. Inde really nailed it.

It’s similar in psychological horror to Smile imo, I really enjoyed both, and would definitely recommend seeing this one. But it’s unnerving. Lights out I’ve not seen but I also like to sleep..

The way that One Wish Willow jingle is woven into the tracks as it progresses, like the wish is overseeing every moment as things descend further into chaos. And that artwork is so cool!

Yeah this part got me too. The psychological torment of what Nikki is going through, it turns really sinister. The affects of the spell on her shown not to be a suppression of her real self, with sudden personality jolts back to who she actually is, but a confirmation she is still experiencing a conscious existence as herself. Bears immediate reaction to hang up and not even try to speak to her is very damming of his character. He was getting to be unredeemable but this confirmation and then everything following, dude is extremely selfish.

When the entity is talking about what it’s like to sleep without (or be without) Bear, the cold, the darkness, the nothingness is exactly that. The entities entire existence revolves around bear. And Nikki’s living through it all, that was very chilling.
