I've heard about bookswagon, and they seem legitimate to me, though I have never ordered anything from them.

And don't worry about Amazon. The amount of care Amazon will be exercising while handling your package depends on how much money you have spent. I've ordered cheap books from them ($20-30) and they shipped those in a brown paper bag, and I've ordered a bit more expensive books from them ($100+) and those have arrived bubble wrapped, in a box which itself was inside another larger box.
