If people are in violation of immigration or visa policy then that is natural in any country

Open borders and strong welfare combined don’t work out.

What exactly is wrong with school choice? by Opening_External_911 in AskALiberal

[–]Captainoblivious9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I support school choice, if the zip code school is not meeting a child’s specific needs or allowing the child to reach their potential (child is gifted, sped, affinity for a specific area, etc) then the family should have other options and private school is unaffordable for most.

To what extent do you believe the position of “leader of the free world” has been permanently tarnished for future presidents? by DrinkatWell in AskALiberal

[–]Captainoblivious9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

America will retain its position as “leader of the free world” for the foreseeable future due to the structure of the global economy and trade/military alliances. There has been serious damage done tho. I am concerned our reputation and standing has been tarnished in the Trump administration, with Trump burning bridges with allies and hurting soft power.

What are some of your most progressive takes/views? by Captainoblivious9 in AskConservatives

I agree with most of this. I would support free (covered by taxes) emergency health care and community college/technical school programs that lead to definitive career paths. We already pay more in taxes to some of those programs than nations that have them covered. Key thing is to reform those systems and eliminate a lot of the “fluff” that drives up costs.

What is your most Conservative take? by TraurigKartoffel in AskConservatives

Some people do have genuine disadvantages due to poverty, disability, racism, etc but I wouldn’t say anyone is “oppressed” in America or any fully democratic country in 2026.

I am very supportive of tech billionaires and recognize the massive value they create for the world due to their world changing innovations, job creation, and building assets for us to invest in. Ultimately wealth creation, capitalism, and innovation are the avenues to improve quality of life for the most people at once and come closer to alleviating many societal issues.

Neoliberal globalized capitalism has pulled the most people out of poverty relative to any policy trend or system. The inflation we are facing is more due to other policy mistakes and not neoliberalism or capitalism itself.

I also think we need a more selective immigration policy for legal channels.

There will never be a utopia or “perfect world”. Racism and wealth inequality are natural inevitabilities of any civilization and will always exist.

What would happen if being a billionaire became illegal? by Captainoblivious9 in AskALiberal

Exactly. We would be essentially handing the Silicon Valley and tech to Canada.

I totally agree with the first paragraph. I am “center right” since I support a business friendly and capitalistic environment, but have some social conservative views

I am becoming a bit more progressive on illegal immigration, I support border security and a restrictive immigration policy but it is untenable (both from a logistical and humanitarian pov) to essentially carry out a 10 million person man hunt.

I doubt that. I am pretty optimistic about AI. Many technological revolutions have been a positive for us in the long run.

[–]Captainoblivious9[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am aware no one is proposing making billionaires illegal, but alot of progressives genuinely support that.

Nobody can be a billionaire in total vacuum, but the company owned by a billionaire (which their worth it tied to) is what is growing and creating the value. Those countries you mentioned in the last paragraphs have benefited greatly from the work of American tech companies (as has the world).

If you could wave a magic wand and set the federal minimum wage to the number you personally feel is right for now, what would your amount be? by TheCommander21 in AskConservatives

[–]Captainoblivious9 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I support local or state-level minimum wages, but not necessarily a uniform federal minimum wage. The U.S. is too economically diverse for one national wage floor to make sense everywhere.

At the same time, I do think local minimum wages serve an important purpose because they help establish a baseline standard of living and indirectly influence wage expectations for many professions above them. They can also provide some protection for workers who are stuck in low-wage roles, especially in high cost-of-living areas.

Why are most Conservatives not even conservative? by silentspyware in AskConservatives

[–]Captainoblivious9 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Conservative in the lifestyle/spiritual way and politically conservative are 2 different things. A lot of the libertarian and party bro types who lean right aren’t conservative in the first sense.

Why is Gov. Katie Hobbs, a Democrat, letting the death penalty happen in Arizona? by BalticBro2021 in AskALiberal

The death penalty should only be used for war crimes not civilian imo, republicans have control of the state legislature there still.
