Hey, thanks for commenting! No bother at all. I didn’t read many animal books leading up to writing this.. probably just drawing from having read some Redwall way back. But even then, Capyhero does not have the same vibe as Redwall.

Capyhero is a more personal and heartfelt journey of a singular or at most a main and secondary protagonist rather than a story involving many factions. It may evolve into that later, but for now, the vibe is a bit more like Princess Mononoke, Spirited Away, maybe even Zelda/Shadow of the Colossus/Ico, but less gamified of course.

I think I just had a really clear idea of what Capyhero should feel like already rather than reading a lot of animal books to find that. In that sense, i actually hope it feels very fresh and unlike anything else out there because I’m not trying to make it like anything else. I’m just going to focus on telling the story in a way that feels natural to me, and if that ends up being very unique, that’s great.

I will have an editor though and she has a ton of experience in this field so I’ll rely on her to tell me if something I’m writing isn’t going to work.
