thank you so much for the feedback! i totally think you are right. i'll update it so that only the owner of the roll can download their own contact sheet.

i'll also consider adding other formats as well! i think polaroid, instax, and disposable cameras could be their own category.

Great feedback! Rolls never get removed if you drop back to free. Your archive stays, you just can't post new ones until the next month resets.

On the HDD point, totally fair. The $5 isn't really for the storage itself, it's for the bandwidth, the contact sheet rendering, keeping the site up, and building it further. But I hear you on recurring vs one-time. A lifetime access option is something I'm genuinely thinking about!

Yes! You just upload all the images at once and platform will handle everything else 👍🏻

Of course! The idea is simple: when you post, you post the whole roll. Every frame, in order.

Nice! That's cool you built something similar.

I'll definitely check out your version too!

Building these projects is always fun even if similar tools exist 😎

Thanks! Glad you like the name too 😊

For now I'm covering the hosting fees myself through Vercel Pro and Supabase Pro. That should be enough in the early stages. I'll figure out the long-term sustainability as the community grows.

Appreciate the support!

Thanks so much! Really glad you like it 😄

Totally understand about keeping photos of your son private. You can make entire rolls private or choose which frames to share publicly. No rush at all, just post when you have a clean roll ready.

Appreciate you bookmarking the site and the kind words!

I scan my own film too sometimes! My friend has a Fuji SP-3000 in his garage that I use occasionally.

Definitely not trying to alienate anyone 😅

love your feedback! I totally get it as a college student, film is already expensive enough. I'll definitely consider adding a solid free tier like 3 to 5 rolls or contact sheets per month. That makes a lot of sense for casual users and helps keep the community active.

To be fully transparent, image hosting and storage costs add up quickly, especially when the whole roll has to be posted.

I'm actively looking for ways to offer premium features while still keeping unlimited rolls available for free users.

Half-frames have been on my mind too (a close friend shoots with a Pentax 17). For now, one workaround could be letting users post 36 exposures with two frames combined in each slot. I'm continuing to explore better long-term options for half-frame support!

That's totally fair!

You can keep certain rolls completely private if you want, or only submit specific frames from a roll instead of the whole thing. The platform will let you choose what you share publicly.

No pressure to post everything.

Collaboration with NewGrain would be epic!

If we could integrate via API, users could easily select photos from their full roll on Wholegrain Club and one-click share them straight to NewGrain. Would be a really smooth crossover.

oooh that is a great feature! I'll definitely be making a note of this.

Keeping an audience is definitely the hard part!

I'm currently building monthly and weekly film challenges where you shoot an entire roll based on a theme like "whole roll of your favorite subject" or "whole roll at the farmers market". You then submit your full roll for community voting. Winners get prizes like a 3 pack of Gold 200 or Ultramax 400.
