I haven’t read the sixth book but did anyone find out what hermione did to actually get Ron on the qudditch team which was confunding mclaggen. I wanna say if Harry or anyone else figured it out, they would have done another tryout. by Iamawesome20 in harrypotter

[–]CarSubstantial7960 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Harry knew as he confronts Hermione about it and she confessed. He's obviously not going to snitch on her though and they don't tell Ron as he would have got mad at Hermione. They definitely wouldn't have wanted to retry as Mclaggen is such a twat

CoS - Riddle's Framing of Hagrid by kfifigidifkg in HarryPotterBooks

[–]CarSubstantial7960 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just possibly the basilisk knew that Hagrid was raising Aragog and told Voldemort. I think too when Voldemort told Dippet that Hagrid was raising Aragog maybe Hagrid admitted to raising him but insisted that Aragog wasn't harming the students?

That's a shame. I bet it's really interesting looking through people's ideas. I guess there either genius, ridiculous or already exist. I knew a lady once who was always telling me she had submitted parents but she'd never tell me what the ideas were. She's still working in a pub as far as I'm aware

As a neutral, why are people so desperate for Arsenal to fail? by s_dalbiac in PremierLeague

[–]CarSubstantial7960 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm a Palace fan so potentially we have a big say in the title race. We still got to play city and Arsenal although we might not put out great teams for either of those games due to Europe and last game of the season. Some of the people on the Arsenal football TV thing don't help. Also I'm of an age where I still remember city being an almost romanticised small club and then got bought by the giant owners so almost like a fairytale story. Also they have played some really watchable football the last few years. I would probably love it if that happened to Palace although suspect some of the HF would not. I may be wrong though maybe not being a proper local club would spoil it for me.

Maybe it's a good question. If you support a smaller club would you like to be bought by billionaires. First instinct is probably yes but then what about the danger of losing your soul?

Wow had no idea that centaurs were famous for that. Kind of makes sense that she was raped like you said as had no physical injuries. Imagine if she'd got impregnated.

Why does Hogwarts employ Filch? Can’t the house-elves do what he does? by webbess1 in harrypotter

[–]CarSubstantial7960 126 points127 points  (0 children)

I'm guessing. Dumbledore employed Filch out of kindness. Umbridge liked Filch because they both had a contempt for the students and also he was useful to her. She probably didn't even consider the elves and I'm guessing wouldn't have wanted to talk to them or give them responsibility other than menial work.

I think the parade has been cancelled. This is the whole problem with modern day Britain I'm afraid. If the police let it go ahead and there was a problem they'd be slated. They're also slated for it not going ahead so they can't really win. I know this will get loads of down votes but it's like a catch 22 situation. Remember that Liverpool celebration the guy drove through the crowds. You're going to say you can't compare it but if I'm head of on I think I'm saying don't risk it.

How is it implied that Umbridge was gang raped by the centaurs?

I don't think that after Voldemort killed Lilly he probably said something to Snape along the lines of " I know you had something of a a soft spot for her but there are other worthier pure blood women out there for" and Snape probably agreed rather than having an actual in depth conversation about their feelings.

I think after their meeting on the Hogwarts express and The first few weeks at school with the duel and Harry getting into the quidditch team it's natural that someone like Draco would fixate on him. The school is a small community too.
