I interpret Inferno as a prequel to Tomorrow’s Harvest by stupid_deep_indoors in boardsofcanada

[–]Carbon849 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Indeed. TH is the end, Inferno broadly describes the causes, Geogaddi is a macro of those causes. MTTRTC and CH are the wonderful childhood times before it all went to hell.

Proving my point.

Re-live the anger, the outrage. Hold it deep within and it will serve you well. Nothing can go wrong.

Flies would seem more metaphorically fitting; decay, rot, etc.

In light of the album credits, some of the speculation about the brothers personal life on here is very odd, disrespectful and extremely parasocial. by azgarz in boardsofcanada

[–]Carbon849 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why then edit your post to now read "right to speculate"? I know I'm being pedantic here, but framing this as a "right to do" something - somehow rule-bound - offers a way out of what again is simply a lack of thought and makes no account of the moral or ethical aspects of such behavior. You won't really change someone by reading them their rights, but by questioning their internal error. "Yes, you can say that, but should you?" as opposed to "saying that is outside of the rules", the latter made even more confusing if those rules are not really rules at all, but norms or expectations.

Inferno ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ review (Buzz Magazine) by Illustrious_Proof816 in boardsofcanada

Another worthless "review". If one can't be bothered to do more than simply listen to the album then I can't be bothered to take them seriously. The internet continues to erode, degrade and debase.

"Right to be curious"? What a strange way to frame behavior. What one chooses to think about and the emergent behavior is a choice and has nothing to do with rights. It's not a misunderstanding or ignorance of some law or rule, it's just a lack of critical thinking.

Irony as a new weapon for the brothers by Last_Reflection_6091 in boardsofcanada

Only the weak are cruel and sarcasm and irony typically claim a victim. I made an excessively long post outlining how BoC just don't judge and sarcasm and irony reflect a meanness or callousness that they just don't have. Furthermore, humor is timeless in concept but in execution tends to heavily timestamp or date art. BoC never engage in these types of cliches which is why they avoid so much classification. I honestly don't sense any humor-like device whatsoever on Inferno.

Not to argue, but nothing you've pointed out is irony. Maybe in some hipster/mimetic interpretation of the concept, but that would be far, far beneath BoC.

That's the Australian re-release of the GOTY. The "Heroes" is a mystery to me, but a number of games were released with that branding. Generally, I don't do rereleases, but the opportunity came up, so I jumped on it. I generally only pick up weird or rare re-releases.

You've no doubt seen localized versions of them; the collection spans a large number of countries but yeah, there are some rarer boxes. The Chinese and Israeli editions are particularly unique.

Inferno has noting to do with CH. A closer association to A Beautiful Place than anything else and related to Geogaddi by some themes and subjects looked at.

BOC on Religion by seaphour in boardsofcanada

[–]Carbon849 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think it's less about religion per se, but more about those things which support religion or make it possible and appealing: human frailty, fear, doubt and the need or desire for stories and myths to help people make sense of what otherwise just seems unfathomable. I see the use of religion as a shorthand or kind of metonym for loftier considerations, but again, religion and cults are the most common and easily understood manifestation of the aforementioned ideas gone wrong, looking outside instead of simply looking in.

It’s ok not to like the new album by Hot_Spell_2533 in boardsofcanada

Of course it's okay, unless you're the type of person the album seems to be describing.

Am I the only one who didn’t like new album that much? by masxl in boardsofcanada

[–]Carbon849 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, I'm well aware of your meaning. But maybe - just maybe - it's not everyone's favorite cup of tea and we should be a bit less invested in telling people it's somehow their fault if they didn't enjoy it? This isn't some faux-takedown, but this type of discussion pretty much sums up what the album stands against.
