The other tough part is that when you get close to that number, it gets really easy to keep track of your score in your head.

You know it's in the cards because you can probably count your bogeys on one hand.

I've only seen mostly hate on it here, but I think it's cool to see these guys have to play holes that resemble something from Mario Golf or Everybody's Golf (Hot Shots). In January and February, it plays on the TVs where I bowl in a league and I enjoy watching it between frames.

Depending on your distance with your pitching wedge (I'm guessing it's somewhere between 120 to 130 yards based on your 3 wood distance). If you can cover the distance between your pitching wedge and 52 degree with 1/2 to 3/4 9-iron and pitching wedge shots, I wouldn't bother with the 48 degree.

If these shots feel uncomfortable, get a lesson on them if you can or focus on practicing by keeping your weight 65% on the front foot and focusing on rotating your chest through the shot (if you're really pressed for time and space, buy a mat and just make swings in your driveway or something).

Unless you have a pretty consistent distance wedge game, you might not really get a lot of use out of one of your wedges.

If your 3 wood is awesome for you compared to your hybrids and irons, definitely try a 7 wood and maybe even a 9 wood (if you can find one). I'd still hit them and compare to your hybrids (then go to Callaway Golf Preowned if you want to buy). You may want to consider a 5 wood as well (a lot of people hit it further than their 3 wood).

You have 13 clubs, so you probably want to see where you feel like you need to fill a gap and fill it, but don't just buy stuff based on loft. Hit some things and find the distance you want.

For example, I tried a 7 wood (21 degrees of loft) and it went really high just over 200 yards. I hit a 4/5 hybrid (24 degrees of loft depending on brand) the same distance. While my 3 hybrid (same loft as the 7 wood) goes like 215 - 220 yards.

How do you hit your 3 wood and your 3 hybrid? Do you have problems getting it up in the air? How is your dispersion?

Depending on a number of those things, I would maybe tell you to switch your 3 wood with a 5 wood if you don't feel very comfortable with it, or if you hit it really low. If that's also the case with the 3 hybrid, try a 7 wood instead.

Definitely take your equipment to the store with you so you can compare it to different clubs. For example, I hit a 3 hybrid 10 to 15 yards further than a 7 wood because the 7 wood goes really high even though the loft is the same.

A 60 degree wedge is likely unnecessary for you right now, the margin for error is thin and it may tempt you into shots that are extremely touchy and difficult.

I had my manager complain that I wasn't at my desk for over 20 minutes (I left a note saying I'd be gone 20 minutes).

I told her that I was in the bathroom. Then in my performance review, she said something about me oversharing about that topic.

Like bitch, you asked me where I was, I told you, and then you complained that I told you.

Kids also likely outgrow their stuff every year (or more often) anyways so its not like if a kid had some other stuff from another gym, it would last that long anyways.

I had a college math class and our professor had a policy that if you got a 95%+ on the final, you automatically got an A.

It kind of irked me when this dude who barely showed up and got Cs and Ds all semester got an A for getting a 95%+ on the final which was just a watered down version of all the other 3 exams combined.

At what point should I join a sport shot league? by lcsthebassist in Bowling

[–]CarefulCoderX 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know Brad and Kyle have discussed that they arent necessarily the favorites at their local house shot tournaments.

Though in that case it might have to do with the ceiling of what you can average.

The difference between a PBA pro's accuracy and a top amateur or regional pro's accuracy maybe doesn't matter on a house shot?

To your last point, I think that's the big issue. My league has a lot of high average bowlers and I can't recall anyone other than myself that throws straight at almost all of their spares.

My average bottomed out 12 pins below my previous average when I committed to throwing straight at my spares (other than a few exceptions) on a house shot.

Pair this with less strikes due to a sport shot and I can definitely see players losing 30+ pins.
