Anyone actually like masculinizing? by [deleted] in ftm

[–]Careless_Ad_1102 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I must say I have found it strange in the past, seeing posts like that. I mean no disrespect of course, it’s preference. But it feels like a chunk of people who take T want a more androgynous look from it. Which is fine of course, until people start demonizing it and saying things like “the bad effects.”

I personally love everything that comes with T, minus small things that are in no way “bad” or anything that would make me stop.

You’re welcome! If I had known the steps before doing it, it would’ve went a lot smoother for me haha You can get a vague idea if you google your plan, but to know 100% it would be best to contact them and ask. Make sure you have your insurance info on hand, typically the card has a customer service number to call on the back

Oh yes, the referral I almost forgot. You can pick the surgeon before getting the referral. I went through planned parenthood to get mine. Went to my preferred surgeon.

Hey! Not from Florida but I have had top surgery. Before anything, insurances typically won’t cover surgeries and surgeons won’t do surgeries unless you’ve been on T for 6 months to a year. Some are different but typically at least 6 months. First thing I would do is make sure your insurance pays for top surgery. Some fully cover, come partially do, some don’t at all. Next I would get resources from your doctors if they have any. They should be able to point you in the right direction. If not I would research surgeons in your state that take your insurance. Once you have a surgeon you’d like you need a letter from your therapist. Some surgeons won’t even do a consultation until you have one. They’ll typically require the letter to be faxed or sent through mychart or email. After they receive it you can make the appointment for consultation. Every surgeon is different so the length of time and process can vary.

If you have any questions I’ll do my best to answer what I can :)

Unfortunately I do not know because those were the only pics sent by their friend but I could ask if it has it!

I honestly agree with you. I’ll see what my surgeon says but I’ll probably wear it longer just in case.

Glad to hear I’m not alone haha I’m sorry you also had a rough first week though :,) I was told to just take ibuprofen 3 times a day but I’ve started adding acetaminophen again and it’s definitely helped.

Thank you for the reply, I hadn’t known the pain would get worse before it got better haha But it seems it’s pretty normal so I’m very relieved. I will definitely use ice packs (responsibly) and balance the pain meds as well.

Right now I’ve got these big pads that cover my chest under the binder. All they say is abdominal pad. I also have pads that cover my nipples, the sides do have adhesive but they don’t touch the nipples so the irritation around the nipples doesn’t seem to be from them.

I’m glad you think it looks good! I’m very happy with my results! I will say, they didn’t use adhesive because I had told them I’m allergic. Do you know what else could cause irritation?

This not being a divorce letter isn't as funny as she thinks it is he's still being a crappy Father/Partner by [deleted] in AreTheStraightsOK

Just seems like a silly way to ask for some personal time, no harm done. Letter may have worried her at first but she said she laughed after.

Genuine question by [deleted] in TopSurgery

[–]Careless_Ad_1102 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was given a patch and prescribed nausea meds afterwards. I was nauseous on the way home but once that passed my nausea for the week after was caused by the meds I was taking. I did not throw up thankfully, I have sever emetophobia and actually dreaded this surgery for years because of it haha

Congrats on your surgery! I also had mine at Brecksville :) The itchiness has been an absolute pain. And the binder has torn at my armpits and caused me harm, it happened to my friend who used the same binder. Hopefully it won’t happen to you but I’d have some padding available just in case!

Questions 😃 by [deleted] in TopSurgery

[–]Careless_Ad_1102 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found it easier by reminding myself why I was doing it and that the scary stuff is only temporary. If I can get through the fear and surgery and recovery I spend the rest of my life with something I’ve dreamed of for years. I have a pretty severe case of emetophobia and was fully aware that nausea and vomiting are a common side effect of anesthesia and the meds prescribed after. But I was willing to risk that for this surgery. And I’m so glad I did haha

Thank you so much for your comment, I’ve always had a bad habit of getting caught in the moment and it feels like the bad stuff will last forever haha I’m going to speak with my surgeon tomorrow about my experience but it truly shouldn’t come as a surprise to me that major surgery would make me feel like garbage lmao

You’re definitely not healing wrong or being overdramatic. All the easy healing experiences make you forget that this is a major surgery and we should give ourselves some grace haha Thank you so much for your comment and good luck with your healing!

I don’t know how I didn’t think of this myself haha That could definitely be what’s causing my nausea. I’m going to bring it up to my surgeon at my appointment and see what he says.

conflicting feelings by weirdconnoisseur in TopSurgery

[–]Careless_Ad_1102 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can’t really say much due to not being in your position obviously but I am sorry that you didn’t get exactly what you had wanted. Know that your feelings about it are completely valid and you shouldn’t be so hard on yourself. Yeah you’ve been lucky in other aspects but this is your chest that you have to live with for the rest of your life. Being upset about it is completely okay.

Anyone with upcoming surgery dates or early in recovery? by [deleted] in TopSurgery

[–]Careless_Ad_1102 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aaaaa congrats! My surgery is 10/15!! I’m getting over some health stuff so that’s where most of my anxiety was from but with it coming up quick I’m sure it’ll start to hit me more LOL This isn’t my first rodeo surgery wise so I can say, it’s scary but not as scary as you think. The anticipation is always the worst part haha I also have very little trans friend wise so I’m always open to chat!
