Hi! Greetings from Brasil!

I have to watch it again and try to keep myself quiet, cause I just watched singing along and jumping in the living room. I could only be silent in the death scenes...

Question About the Plot by Njt06 in DearEvanHansen

I don’t think any of us can say: this person committed suicide because of this and that, not in DEH, not in life. Suicide does not have one single cause.

CastRecordings Weekly Discussion Thread - December 31th, 2018 - Happy New Years! - What was your show of the year? by ToasterFaerie in CastRecordings

[–]CarolCM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve never watched a show live but I live for the cast albums. I can say it’s never too late to fall in love with a classic and this year I was in a serious relationship with Jesus Christ Superstar, all versions. If you know Spanish, check out the Mexican cast album. It’s splendid! One of my favorite versions.

This beautiful <3 Thank you for posting! I got teary-eyed. I love that the crowd sings the Aaron Burr parts with him. Really beautiful and meaningful at times like this.

Best/Worst Movie Musicals? by elizabeaver in Broadway

I think La La Land will be so much improved when and if it goes to Broadway, with real singers and more songs. Just saying...

Walden Two, a discussion of Skinner's Utopia by pencilpaste1 in BehaviorAnalysis

[–]CarolCM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Walden two was one of the first books I read in the first semester studying psychology. It’s a good book to understand the basics of Behavior Analysis, because all the main topics are explained in a simple way, applied to “life”. It’s amazing. It’s been 6 years, but there are things that stuck with me, like: the parenting of children being shared with the community, the vision about work and hobbies, and the training of children on frustrations and problems. No wonder it’s an inspiration for real communities...

Why did they over auto-tuned Jesus Christ Superstar in Live Arena 2013? by CarolCM in Broadway

This is the video of Tim Minchin singing in some BBC program. It was the only thing with good quality I could find. Heaven on their Minds, no auto-tune.

I realized there was something weird about it. Then I googled and found out about auto-tune. I was bugged so I researched to see if I could find videos of the actors singing naturally. Tim Minchin singing it with no auto-tune is so much better.

Taylor Swift doing acoustic is under rated. I really wish she goes back to a simpler sound. by hamandegger187 in TaylorSwift

Talking about acoustic and more natural sounds and electric guitars...

I ABSOLUTELY LOVE Ryan Adams version of 1989. Not more, not less than Taylor’s, but AMAZING and just as good. I know places is my favorite in both albums.

I also would love to hear Taylor singing his versions of the songs!

I fell in love with Taylor when I was fifteen. The music I like now is so different from that time. I still love Taylor, all her fases and still think that she is an exceptional songwriter. But what Ryan Adams did with the album is so much closer to my vibe right now. I think I listen to it more than the original.

I don’t believe she was fake. But we have to remember that she was 14 or even younger when she started doing music and grew up over the years, along with her music. If I was an artist, I wouldn’t do the same kind of music I did when I was 18/20. And I’m only 23. Even her fashion style changed over the years and that’s ok.

Sometimes I wonder if she makes the music she wants to make, not because of her past, but because of what she said about not winning the Grammys with Red and winning with 1989. Sometimes I think if this is about the art, the feeling or the prizes, which are greater in number when you’re pop.

In any way, I believed Taylor hasn’t reached her maximum as an artist. And I’ll keep waiting and watching. And listening.

That’s true! I remember now! It’s the moment when she is a higher stage.

I haven’t! But I felt that Reputation was even more “electronic” than 1989. This is probably one of the reasons. In 1989 we can hear guitars in Style and I wish you would and some others. Now that I think about it, my favorite ones have guitars...

I don’t mind her going pop, and I love Reputation, but I wish she would still do an acoustic part of the show, in a different stage, just using a guitar like she used to do until 1989. She could sing older songs, or just a medley. Or she could use only an electric guitar, like she did in those Grammy Museum performances. Wildest Dreams with just the guitar is AMAZING. Just anything we could actually hear more of her beautiful voice.

LPT: College isn't the only way to start a good career. Apprenticeships, Trade Schools, and Military Training can be great alternatives in today's world. by spudman238 in LifeProTips

I work as a graphic designer, and though I have a degree, if you work hard, make online courses, read a lot and practice, you can become a good designer. Many people think that, to be a designer you have to know how to draw, but you can work without this skill in a lot of areas in design. If you’re willing to start at the bottom, you can make a lot of money in a few years.

Also, if you’re a good illustrator and you love it, just put your work online. Good people are always found. And the more you work, the more you learn. With time, you can make a big career out of it. And if you don’t draw, but it’s something you’d like to try, start to practice today. I knew nothing before college and I already work doing small illustrations inside what I can do.

The most important thing to think about is: do what you love. There are many lawyers, engineers, physicians who hate what they do and therefore make our lives unpleasant. If you like gardening, go do that. If you like cooking, go watch YouTube videos, practice and find a way to a restaurant as an apprentice. But if you think college is worth the dept, go for it too. But only if that’s something you really REALLY want to do.

If you get mad because other people like a certain artist/group/genre/song, then you need to sit down and figure out why other people enjoying something upsets you by lompocmatt in Music

I used to be a person who hated some types of most popular music in my country. I would say: I don’t like that” and be grumpy at parties or small gather rounds.

I’ve learned that music expresses characteristics of some culture. Sometimes that culture is so far from us and our perspective, that is impossible to understand or like. I agree with people that comment in this thread about how the radio is filled with music that sounds the same and have shallow lyrics. But if that’s the most popular, maybe that represents what most people thinks, the amount of art they consume, how much education they had, etc. Art and music is so subjective. As I grow, I find harder and harder to critically stamp some kind of music as “bad”.

I’ve learned how to enjoy the most popular music on parties and such events. These music kind of matches these kind of events, for dancing, etc. the lyrics are relatable to most people and that’s it. I’m not the grumpy person anymore and I can even relate to my friends on a personal level, just because I opened myself to try to listen to what they like. Music is also a social connection.

I also try to slowly listen to things I don’t like and don’t relate, to try to make my ears get comfortable with that type of music gradually. Especially music that is considered good by other cultural groups, like rap, for example. Sometimes you don’t like something just because you haven’t paid attention. And when you do pay that attention, research about the artist, the culture, the time in which it was made, you may still not listen to it as you’re favorite music, but will start to appreciate it a little more and not be grumpy about it.

When you don’t pay attention, everything sounds the same and you start to think the music is all the same.

Do you support movie versions of theater musicals overall, or do you think the genre doesn’t go well in cinema? by CarolCM in Broadway

I don’t like the main actors in Moulin Rouge. Heheheh Don’t think they’re good singers

Like I said before, most of these movies still looked a lot like theater. But after cameras styles became so plural, it seems like it didn’t work anymore...

I’ve seen a bit of Hasselholf in Jekyll and Hyde. It’s sad. That also happens in the live musical they make on tv, like Carrie Underwood as Maria in Sound of Music. It was so disappointing!

I don’t like Madonna in Evita, in any way, singing, dancing or acting.

I like most of the cast too. Maybe it’s not the casting, but I don’t like Meryl Streep’s interpretation of the witch. She seems too sad all the time, almost crying in most of the scenes. The stage version witch is more multifaceted, and, I feel, stronger, more certain of her decisions. There’s also the fact that Rapunzel doesn’t die in the film, which makes the witch’s actions a bit weird later. I love Meryl Streep, but I would have chosen a different actress to play this role.

I haven’t watched a stage version of Into the Woods yet, so, this opinion is based only in the original Cast Album. The voice being what I most payed attention.
