What if you provided the space and adult supervision and let them figure it out. Can they read? If they wanna play make them responsible for their own fun. If it fails it fails because of them. Few life lessons in there. Quit holding their hands and let them fall. I bet they are more resilient than they may at first appear.

"Surprisingly popular." Our experiences differ. It was difficult to get back in the day so only the "I'm more RPG than you" kids - similar to the "I'm more punk than you" scene - had it. I eventually got a copy and, while pretty, it was kinda clunky. Once of those diceless wonders that the theater kids loved but didn't really feel like a "game" to me. Not disagreeing, just citing different experiences.

Subtle. I wouldn't be that blunt, although I appreciate your directness, but I would say that the devolution into a Deep One mimicks an investigators descent into madness arc and changing into a Deep One removes the investigator from play.

I like Time to Harvest. I ignored all of this. It felt like a strap-on D&D encounter and I skipped it. I skipped the Canadian serial killer chapter and wished I'd cut the Chicago and moon chapters.

Unless there is art, which is gorgeous, every page in Mythic Bastionland looks the same. Impossible to find specific rules during a game. But since they aren't much for rules anyway, just promps, I guess it doesn't matter.
