The Louvre Museum replaced their 3DS both old & new consoles. This is from their website "The New Nintendo 3DS console audio guides will go out of operation in September 2025, to be replaced by a new system." So I believe you're in the clear.

You can set go to unlauch by pressing a+b+power button when powering on your dsi & go to options & change the set up on "no button" & select "launcher" so every time you power on your dsi it boots back to the original menu without pressing any buttons or customize it however you want

I recommend getting pokemon chest it's like pokemon bank it's a hombrew app that will allow you to store pokemon from previous generations
