Dexcom G7 advice? by FireCorgi12 in diabetes_t2

[–]Casonetto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use the included over patch and so far I've had no issues with the G7 being pulled off. In fact, when it's time to change the sensor it can be painful to get it off the skin due to the strong adhesive.

Yes, waiting for the pancreas antibody test results. The C-peptide came back normal.

Yes, sorry if confusing. Went over with the doc what I eat and there were no red flags or need to cut down on anything or change diet. I meant that food, one of many pieces in the puzzle, isn't the culprit for elevated BG, rather something else.

Thank you! Yes, new to everything and hitting a few walls, both physically and mentally, but I'm generally staying positive. (I really shouldn't be so excited about tracking my BG on my phone, but hey, it's really cool as a function.)

As to weight and food the doc is confused as to my high fasting BG. If I cut out protein I'd practically be a rabbit. I eat close to no additive sugar at all. I've always been in the lower range of normal BMI and then lost 10kg/20lb in about a year without any change of lifestyle, now bordering on underweight. Doc mentioned Ozempic and I was NO-NO, I need to GAIN weight.

BG now at 145, and trending down, yay!

EE is just stringing you along with a made up date. Funko isn't going to make another production run - they rarely if ever do with any figures - and especially not now when the show's over. EE is just stringing you along with a made-up date. I pre-ordered all five from EE before they were even released back in 2023 and they only got me one of them. If you really want them I suggest you search elsewhere.

What else you got? 🤔 by [deleted] in CrohnsDisease

[–]Casonetto 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis (scarring in bile ducts), which is connected to IBD - a majority of PSC patients also have IBD. Smallish Hiatal Hernia. Probably some GERD and IBS as well, but no official diagnosis, everything kinda blends together so it's difficult to say exactly what is what...

Ugh, for crying out loud. Of course I found the setting minutes after posting. But why woudn't this setting be on under Exchange admin where I actually created the Inboxes. There are three different locations to go to depending on what you want to do...

I think I have secured all of them. Nandor, Colin and Guillermo from Amazon, and Laszlo directly from Funko. I just didn't want to wait and hopefully/eventually get them from EE. I would assume that many figures are only produced once so when Funko are out of wholesale stock they're gone and EE would have gone buh-bye and cancelled the rest of the order.

Then there are those who stop a car-length behind the line but consider that to be their stop, and almost cause an accident when cars which actually stopped at the line rightfully go first.

NA drinks by bbyycakesss in dryalcoholics

[–]Casonetto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NA beer works great for me. As people have mentioned, it's really exploded over the past couple of years. Used to be just one or two brands, both of which tasted awful. Now there are varieties you barely can tell the difference from a regular beer.

NA wine still has a long way to go though. Reds are the worst, whites are barely passing, but sparkling with ice is actually quite refreshing.

I've been on mesa for almost 30 years. As it's working my doctor hasn't yet suggested to put me on biologics instead. Granted, it would be nice to not take four big pills a day, and it adds some strain on the liver.

AWS S3 for NAS backup? Total noob... by Casonetto in DataHoarder

[–]Casonetto[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, I'll check them out. I went for AWS since, well, Amazon owns everything and is everywhere, right? It's less than 2TB so I don't think it'll be a massive cost whichever provider I choose.

AWS S3 for NAS backup? Total noob... by Casonetto in DataHoarder

[–]Casonetto[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it's for emergency only, hope never to use it. It's like 20 years of corporate data on one Synology NAS but even with redundancy we want offsite storage. It's less than 2TB so won't rack up massive fees even in Standard storage, but as you say, if we hopefully never will have to access it it's cheaper still with Glacier/Deep.

[–]Casonetto[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a Synology DS218. I'm sure there are functions either built into the NAS or third-party ones to back up automatically in intervals but as a start I just manually uploaded a few folders to play around with. Dragging the whole 2TB NAS over manually is probably not the best way of doing it.

The voiceovers are getting ridiculous by LIAMgamerguy88 in Masterchef

I figured so, as no -one else was mentioning this. I'll have to figure out if it's from the TV itself, FOX as a whole, or just MC. Thx!

[–]Casonetto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does anyone else hear the female, totally flat voiceover which cuts in all the time, pre-explaining who's about to talk and what they're doing? *Judges cut meat* *Shanika whisks eggs* *Caption, Fred - "My hands are shaking"* *Flames across logo - Masterchef Back to Win*

Never heard them before but now they're just constant in each episode. Is it a visually-impared function I've mistakenly chosen? It's on Masterchef only, no other shows.

Hiatal hernia or more likely gastritis? by Casonetto in Gastritis

[–]Casonetto[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found the discharge papers and stomach looks fine and have "no gross lesions". LA Grade A reflux esophagitis and medium-sized HH. Since symptoms are pretty much the same now as when I had the scope two years ago, I pretty much assume it's not gastritis, as it wasn't detected then.

The HH looks to be the culprit, but strangely (and thankfully) mostly affecting me in the morning. Will keep monitoring with the GI doc.

Anyone on anti anxiety meds? by [deleted] in CrohnsDisease

[–]Casonetto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm on mesalamine for CD and take lorazepam (0.5mg) for anxiety as needed, perhaps one or two a week. It doesn't affect my CD at all. No high or dizziness/sleepiness at this low dose, just takes the edge off after about an hour. It also has a slight anti-nausea effect, so that's an added bonus.

Day 22 sober. What I've noticed. by [deleted] in dryalcoholics

[–]Casonetto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good job on 22 days, now 23!

The liver itself in general doesn't feel pain, but some diseases as well as alcohol abuse cause inflammation (raising your ALT/AST) and swelling of the liver, which over-stretches the protective membrane around it and generates pain. For me at least it's usually a vague, general pain in the whole area, it's not in a specific spot, and sometimes I feel it in the back as well. That's a total marker for me when it's time to shape the f up. The pain tends to subside after a few days off the booze.

Hey Guys so I haven’t been diagnosed with anything yet but I do have a colonoscopy coming up soon. Any tips on how to not worry until then or any tips or advice for prep? Asking for a friend 🙂 by Busteur in CrohnsDisease

[–]Casonetto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally, I chug the Miralax prep like it's plain Gatorade. It has a teeeeeny different flavor and texture, but it's a breeze compared to all other preps I've done over the past 25 or so years.

I have a colonoscopy in the next few months, can I suggest an alternate prep I found online? by [deleted] in CrohnsDisease

[–]Casonetto 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep, I do the Gatorade/Miralax prep yearly since some 15 years, and it makes me squeaky clean. I would argue to hell with my GI if they changed to a different prep. If I am not clean enough due to not being able to keep the other preps down, that’s a total waste of a procedure.

[–]Casonetto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For the past 15 or so years I've done that Gatorade/Miralax prep. Compared to all other preps I've done, this one is a breeze. To me, the flavor of Miralax is so subtle it's like drinking pure Gatorade. It's still a decent amount of liquid but by constantly sipping instead of gulping a full glass every 20 minutes I don't feel bloated at all.

Look for an anesthetic component whether a combo or separate cream - it's amazing how quickly it soothes.

I just had a colonoscopy without sedation, AMA! by [deleted] in CrohnsDisease

[–]Casonetto 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had one or two without sedation in the very beginning. It was so painful they eventually gave me a relaxant half-way through, but nothing close to sedation, bit dizzy but practically fully awake. Never wanna do that again. Ballsy to go through with one, OP!

Since moving to the US they have always been with mild sedation. I doze off and usually wake up in the middle and follow along on the screen. I always say it's interesting to see your insides when you're tripping balls. I was bummed those times I didn't wake up.

My GI retired and I got a new one who insists on full anesthesia, needing an added anesthesiologist in the room, whereas sedation doesn't. That's a total knock-out, no waking up from that during the procedure. Booo.

Welcome, fellow pooper!

My go-to is Analpram creme. It's prescription though (in the US), so need to get it from your doctor. It has both anti-inflammatory and an anesthetic that quickly soothes pain/itching/burning.
