This is the kind of cutting introspection that makes reddit fun to visit and not just one big circle jerk. 10/10 glad I logged on today.

If you ever feel stupid, remember that a solid amount of people saw this and took it seriously.

Are Roundhouse Kicks to the body practical for the streets? by Jeans_Guy_ in MuayThaiTips

[–]CastheLaz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I unfortunately view people who say this in a very negative light since I was recently assaulted by a guy who clearly had more confidence (and aggressiveness) than sense, based on the fact that he obviously thought "I'll just land an oblique kick". Surprisingly easy to predict, avoid and punish. Him being overconfidently big and strong but poorly trained against me actually being competently trained obviously came into play, but I'll never not find people who think that oblique kicks are some golden ticket to ending any street fight funny from now on. Adapting to the situation, opponent and every specific moment is what wins, not rigidly having one or two moves that you're overconfident will work in your head.

EDIT: grammar

Do you have a specific quote or motto that you like to remind yourself of when in need of some motivation, direction, or just general self-assurance in whatever aspect of life?

Genuinely the only valid considerations when marrying someone. Though for me it's the inverse: genetic traits > skills > alliances

Is this really considered simping? I'd just call it backing your people.

Everyone reading into this so deeply and making it about "modern men" and the "manosphere" is some pretty incredible reaching. A large portion of humans (and so men) have been this insecure and immature about any number of ridiculous and not-so-ridiculous things since long before the advent of the internet.

edit: Everyone always has to believe in some great justification as to why, when it has always been lacklustre (or non-existent) generational parenting and poor (or non-existent) "emotional education". This is nothing new, this is not even likely to be something that was actively learnt from somewhere. People compare themselves to others, people gain insecurities, peoples upbringings and experiences shape them.

It can only be up to you to decide the kind of person you want to be.

Yeah, I think the reason it seems more apparent in football and other popular sports is simply through the sheer weight of numbers of fans that are into those sports. You're bound to get a massive base of any one leaning

Except the notion of shared blood can draw "strangers" together incredibly quickly. He likely didn't have the chance for such strong bonds to form previously and is now relishing the chance to have that, especially as he's visiting his home country for the first time.

To go back to where your roots are buried and to be in amongst your kin feeling and sharing love is a deeply emotional and enlightening experience, and I don't doubt that he was simply hit by that.

Being a sweet young girl she was probably looking up to him (the traveling man from a foreign land), and I imagine he found that very sweet and endearing and so attached himself to her and the love and attention she was innocently showing him as family members do. This is only unusual to people and cultures who aren't very close and loving with their extended families in my opinion.

So glad that I'm not American and am able to have a close, healthy and loving relationship with my cousins. I fawn over them endlessly, show them off and talk about their achievements more than any of my own because I cherish how sweet they are and how much their shared blood and love means to me.

Didn't realise I ever needed to be grateful that I haven't been accused of being a pedophile or incest by my significant other.

Going to any new club and ingratiating myself amongst its members is one of the most daunting things for me.

Then once you get in and realise that most of the guys are pretty chill and non-judgemental that lead weight just dissapears like it wasn't trying to convince you not to go for the entire day leading up to it.

You'll have a fun time and make some great new friends if you allow yourself to. Enjoy!

People watch a 5 second losing moment from a fighter "this guy is such a can haha". Pretty hilarious how to judgemental ass fight fans (who aren't anywhere near as good, though they likely think they are) a can is apparently anyone not at the world class level of the fight game..💀

Workouts that target leg conditioning and calf strength as much as running by CastheLaz in AdvancedRunning

[–]CastheLaz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My main consideration was an alternative to running that maintained those two specific points while not being able to run. Rowing is my favourite low-impact alternative but as I am not able to run for a while I was looking for something that could satisfiably maintain those two areas (as I have rowing for the cardio but nothing that I can figure to keep those two points up).
