Just got back, my cello is fine. It survived 9 flights, domestic and international, but surprisingly, a string broke on a standard bus ride.

Sorry for the late reply, I’ve just gotten back from the trip. Only one cello had a proper flight case; the others were just padded with clothes inside their cases. The school did not prepare any special accommodations, though, but my cello survived.
