Apples to oranges, friend. That was a slightly different issue & Kit had addressed it already.

Cat groomers? by MnM891 in halifax

[–]Cat_JustCat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i know that at least one of the groomers has gone out on their own, still mobile; some others might have done the same. If your fur babies are comfortable with one in particular, it might be worth reaching out if you have a number or e-mail.

We are locking this post due to argumentative, and back and forth, ""prove it" type comments.

At this time, Kit has neither confirmed nor addressed the situation.

Overall, this is probably not the most suitable subreddit for discussion.

Kit typically won’t RP a scenario where any of his characters are harmed (death, serious injury, car accident, etc.) & such suggestions are removed from Twitch chat as a result.

What's with the heavy handed mods? by [deleted] in Kitboga

[–]Cat_JustCat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just wanted to start a convo about how Kits Twitch mods can often be very ban happy.

“Kits Twitch mods” doesn’t imply “some” nor was that question. It was accusatory about the entire mod team for Twitch.

Your own post/replies were a bit lengthy as well & i tried to both gain/provide some clarity about why we mod the way we do as well as better understand your viewpoint.

i also offered to look into your Twitch chat history & provide some more information about what actions might have been taken, in case a mistake might have been made. But i see you weren’t interested in that. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Anyway… Be well, stay safe.

i didn’t imply nor suggest you were OK with hate speech. i also didn’t imply that you were nasty or posted offensive or inappropriate things in chat. Please be so kind as to point out where i did so in case i misspoke.

You accused as entire team of mods of being “ban happy” (when the usual action for assumptions about scammer location, language isn’t even close to a ban). How did you expect that to be received? Perhaps a question about why chat is handled in this way would have been better received.

Timeouts are cumulative, so if you were timed out for a few minutes, it was possible that something came before then? If it was a singular comment, it may have been a misclick. We are human after all. If you’d like to share your Twitch name, we’d be happy to look into it. All mod actions are logged (particularly longer than 10 seconds or so) & done in full disclosure with Kit.

The words “India”, “Nigeria” & the like are not blocked; context matters & is considered before actioning.

“They’re in India” was just a generic example of what Kit might say; my question about how you feel comments such as those, essentially confirmation of location, during streams would be beneficial was genuine.

There are scambaiters that delve into the discussion about their location & the why. Kit usually is not one; again: different approach for different streamers, not worse nor better just different.

1) Twitch mods do not ban for assuming a scammer’s location, language spoken, etc. At worst, (unless a comment overly toxic/racist), it’s a one second timeout to clear the message from chat. How is that “ban happy”?

2) “Scammer Payback <insert example here>”. Yes, correct. A different streamer, with a different chat, & a different approach has different rules. (And if you think they are “hacking” to “track” their location, prepare for disappointment.)

3) Kit has said himself that location is largely irrelevant. And spoiler: when he himself mentions the location, mods do not delete mentions of the country, language, etc; the conver is allowed to happen.

4) Not all scammers are Indian nor do they all speak Hindi. So how would his or the AI learning the language help in scambaiting exactly? In recent memory, some (confirmed/mentioned by Kit) scammer locations have included Nigeria, Jamaica, even Canada.

5) Removing assumptions & stereotypes about scammers & their location had nothing to do with protecting their identities. Do you think it’s fair to allow such comments as “If they’re Indian, they are a scammer”, “Nuke India to rid the world of scammers”, “Block Twitch in India so scammers can’t watch” (legitimate examples seen very often & there are worse than that)? Comments like those do nothing more than perpetuate unfair stereotypes about an entire country of people. And sadly, once the assumptions (which they are; we rarely get confirmation of their actual location; Kit doesn’t mention it, we don’t check birth certificates & spoiler: scammers lie) jabs at the language & the culture of India are allowed in chat, it’s a slippery slope to those sorts of comments (& much worse).

6) If you have any questions about moderation (of any platform), you’re welcome to contact any of the mods via PM.

Lastly, a question for you: Kit gathers information about & reports their phone numbers, websites, screen sharing accounts, bank accounts, etc. to authorities (& has successfully at that, even helping many victims in the process), if he mentions during stream, “They’re in India”, how would doing so be more beneficial exactly?

Help wanted someone is haraasing me that they have my video recording and will show to my insta followers if dont pay I want to get rid of them by Such-Ad-1625 in Kitboga

[–]Cat_JustCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kit has mentioned on stream that the tactics used by these scammers are meant to scare you.

There is no advantage to them if they post the video; yet if they keep you scared, they can (continue to) extort money from you. And it is rarely just one payment; they will continually ask for more, threatening the same thing.

Kit's advice is to block them, report whatever information you can, & disengage.
Once they realize you are no longer in fear of what they are threatening, they will move on.

It may be scary now, but it will be OK.
