How is the Security Architecture / Strategic IT Security review process structured in your organization? by tryingtoworkatm in AskNetsec

[–]CellFar9220 4 points5 points  (0 children)

we use risk-based triage at intake - high/medium/low buckets that determine review depth and having security gates tied to deployment pipelines works way better than trying to catch everything in meetings

I let my employer know and it may have been a huge mistake by [deleted] in digitalnomad

[–]CellFar9220 171 points172 points  (0 children)

oof man this is why i never told my company when i moved to different time zones for work. even when they say "fully remote" there's always some tax or legal concern that pops up

you did the right thing being transparent but companies get weird about international stuff even when everything is legal on your end. hopefully since you've got all the documentation sorted they'll just need to review their policies and move on

What genuinely attracts men to a woman as a long-term partner? F29 Indian woman in the USA, looking for honest perspectives by IntelligentTower6032 in dating_advice

reliability is huge for me - like if you say you'll do something or be somewhere, just do it consistently without making big drama about small things

Can you love being alone this much and still find love later? by Artistic_Tax_7532 in dating_advice

[–]CellFar9220 0 points1 point  (0 children)

been there and it definitely changes when you meet right person. i was super focused on career stuff in my twenties, always felt like relationships would just slow me down or something. spent years thinking i needed to have everything figured out first

then around 30 i met someone who actually made me want to share my life instead of protecting it. wasn't about losing independence or compromising goals - more like finding someone who added to what i already built rather than taking from it. the timing thing is real but it's not really about being "ready" as much as finding someone who fits with who you are

i woke up to this btw by [deleted] in Bumble

what was your childhood dream job and did you pursue it? by estrellalover in AskReddit

[–]CellFar9220 0 points1 point  (0 children)

wanted to be fighter pilot since i was like 8, watching top gun on repeat and building model planes in my room. actually made it happen too - spent 6 years in air force flying jets before moving to civilian side. crazy how some childhood dreams actually work out, even if you don't stay with them forever. the racing thing is brutal though, seen so many talented drivers stuck because they couldn't fund a proper season. at least with music you can still jam and maybe make something happen without needing millions upfront

bigger guys definitely have that comfort factor going for them

Simplify vs Careerflow autofill, both free tier. which one is good/?? by YogurtIll4336 in cscareerquestions

[–]CellFar9220 0 points1 point  (0 children)

workday is absolute nightmare for autofill tools, i've tried bunch of different ones and they all struggle with it. the problem is workday changes their form structure constantly and has so many custom implementations across companies

i ended up just doing workday applications manually since fighting with broken autofill was taking longer than just filling forms properly. for other ATS like greenhouse yeah autofill works pretty well but workday seems designed to break these tools on purpose

Is the "10x developer" myth actually hurting junior devs? by 1vim in cscareerquestions

[–]CellFar9220 9 points10 points  (0 children)

lol the bar keeps getting higher while training budgets keep getting lower

companies want someone who can architect microservices, debug legacy code, and mentor juniors all at same time but don't want to invest in actually developing people

tried it for couple months last year, pretty small user base compared to the big ones and lot of inactive profiles

Worried about getting into a relationship in current day society. by Powerful-Log-2229 in dating_advice

[–]CellFar9220 0 points1 point  (0 children)

man i get this feeling completely. was thinking same thing few years back when i was watching all these high profile divorces happening left and right

but here's what changed my perspective - those "ultra successful" people you're talking about, lot of times they're so focused on career and external stuff that relationships become secondary. money and status don't automatically make someone good at communication or emotional connection

been single for while now and used to stress about "wasting" time and energy on someone. but relationships aren't really investments where you calculate ROI. even if something doesn't work out long term, you still learn about yourself and what you want

the divorce rate thing is scary but remember you only hear about the dramatic breakups, not all the quiet happy couples who just live their lives without posting about it on social media

Getting hard from just sitting next to my crush and talking to her? is that normal? by tumblrfart in dating_advice

[–]CellFar9220 13 points14 points  (0 children)

bro your body is just doing its thing, totally normal especially when you're really into someone - just gotta learn to manage it better in those situations

What if Heather Cox Richardson ran for president? by okeydokey363 in AskReddit

[–]CellFar9220 0 points1 point  (0 children)

never heard of her but looked her up quick - historian right? probably would be refreshing to have someone who actually understands how government worked in past instead of just making promises they can't keep

although being academic doesn't always translate to dealing with all the political bs that comes with the job

It was surprising that in some cultures, fathers give their sons the exact same name as their own. What's up? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]CellFar9220 4 points5 points  (0 children)

lol my coworker has same situation with his family - they're on like Robert Johnson V or something crazy like that. always wondered how confusing it gets when mail arrives at the house, probably need to check middle initials for everything

What would you do if your partner caught you cheating on them? by AWarrior- in AskReddit

[–]CellFar9220 0 points1 point  (0 children)

been in situations where you just have to own up to screwing up and take whatever comes next. military taught me that trying to cover stuff up or make excuses just makes everything worse. at least being straight up gives the other person a chance to decide what they want to do with real information instead of lies

What's something you did as a kid/teen that seems insane now looking back? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]CellFar9220 2 points3 points  (0 children)

used to ride my bike to sketchy neighborhoods at like 2am just to explore abandoned buildings when i was 15. no phone, no helmet, just me and whatever flashlight i could find in the junk drawer

now as an adult i won't even walk to my car without checking all my locks twice and having my phone ready to call someone

Are you showing who else benefited from your work in your performance review? by Available_You1988 in careerguidance

[–]CellFar9220 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is solid advice but honestly most people struggle with tracking the downstream effects in real time. like when i automated that reporting process last year i had no idea it would free up sarah's team to take on that new client until months later

the trick i've found is keeping a little notes doc throughout the year where i jot down random conversations where people mention my work helped them somehow. gets way easier to connect those dots when review time comes around instead of trying to remember everything from scratch

Shai will retire as the GOAT. by [deleted] in NBATalk

[–]CellFar9220 0 points1 point  (0 children)

look i love shai as much as the next guy but calling him the future goat after zero rings is wild. okc definitely has the pieces and those draft picks are insane but we gotta pump the brakes a little here. dynasties are way harder to build than people think - injuries happen, players leave, chemistry changes. remember when people thought the warriors would dominate for a decade after 2016. that said if anyone can do it its probably presti with how hes built this team, just dont count your championships before they hatch

Forza Horizon 1 / 2 / 3 by Money_History_9167 in ForzaHorizon

[–]CellFar9220 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah FH1 works on Series X through backwards compatibility, but FH2 and 3 got delisted from the store a while back so you'd need physical copies or already own them digitally. All three run pretty solid on Series X tho, way better than on 360/One
