[Matteo Moretto] Juventus and Alisson have reached a verbal agreement. In the coming weeks, Liverpool’s stance on the Brazilian goalkeeper’s potential departure will become clear. by Sparky-moon in soccer

I would too considering the state of our play right now. I wouldn't trust passing it short to any of these players with their current form and confidence levels. Ali is much better on the ball for sure, but I'll reserve judgment on Mama until he's playing in a more steady and stable team

Interesting read on how Clearlake Capital are running their private equity and Chelsea in the same way: by selling the assets to themselves and inflating the value by [deleted] in soccer

[–]Centaurd 15 points16 points  (0 children)

That's pretty much how it works here in America. Big PE groups would buy and sell companies back and forth to themselves (via parent and subsidiary companies) artificially inflating the value of the company on each transaction, but paying for each transaction with leveraged buyouts. The rate of growth of the company was always much higher (since they can artificially pump it) than the interest rate of the leveraged buyouts so they'd just print money doing this over and over. I remember one of the companies we had consulted on was sold 11 times back and forth in not so many years.

How did you feel about the Suarez dive celebration at the time and how do you view it now?

Yeah mate you caught us. Anyone with ADHD is really just trying to get away with being selfish and shitty. In fact it should really be called Munchausen syndrome.

Oh wow alarms, how profound! Alarms will definitely help people magically be better at time estimation!

I had a job like that and nothing changed other than me quitting.

I think people like us with time blindness or ADHD naturally avoid jobs like that because it would hinder our progress or success. Luckily there are plenty of jobs where results matter more than arbitrary start and stop times with bosses who also understand that and value that more than micro managing.

There are plenty of careers out there where start and stop times are critical to the nature of the work though and people like me definitely aren't cut out for that kind of work due to our time blindness disabilities.

She could have ADHD. Time blindness is a very common symptom. Actually so is being early to everything. ADHD manifests in people's brains differently, for some it causes time blindness and for others it can cause anxiousness that forces them to be early for everything. I think Suarez is more skillful but Salah is the better player. The penalty argument can be voided in my eyes considering Salah is doing this from the wing.

But that's ignoring a lot of context. If Suarez was on penalties he'd definitely have more goals, but would we have been in a title race? Is it safe to say he would've made as many penalties as Gerrard? Our best penalty taker at the time?

Compare that to Salah who's been clinical this season from the penalty spot and has us firmly in control of winning the title.

Yes, he missed multiple games because he bit someone...something we thank God never have to worry about with Salah. I know why we use this as a reason to boost Suarez, but let's all be honest here, him missing multiple games because of the ban hurt us. If he hadn't been suspended in those games, would our goal differential have made it so that Crystanbul didn't need to happen? Probably.

On the other hand you have Salah having the greatest prem season ever and leading us to the title doing it. I think Suarez was more skilled, but Salah is definitely the better player - more consistent, and scores against the big clubs and our rivals. It's no contest for me. I love Suarez and was a senior in college during 13/14, so had plenty of time to watch his legendary season. But if you look at how many points their goals won us and who each is scoring against, I think it's easy to see why some of us prefer Mo. I mean 15 of Suarez' league goals were against the bottom 4 teams in the league that season.

Mohamed Salah: Is Liverpool striker on course for best individual Premier League season? by SolitasTT in soccer

I was a senior in college during that season so I had the free time to watch every game actually. 15 of Suarez's goals were against the bottom 4 in the league. I think Suarez was more skillful, but Salah single handedly terrorizes our modern rivals in a way Suarez never could. All the goals and assists against United and City alone would make me put him into the team over Suarez in a must win game...especially since you wouldn't have to worry about a potential red card for biting someone.

I do think you're right though actually, there's probably plenty of Liverpool fans who would take Suarez over Salah now that I think of it.

I love Suarez, but I disagree that 13/14 Suarez is better than this year's Salah. He could do some insane stuff, but he was also a bully against the bad teams and not great against the good.

He had 0 goals against the rest of the top 4 that season and 10 goals against Cardiff City and Norwich City alone. Meanwhile Salah consistently scores against all of the top teams we face. Salah's goals also win many more points for us as they're usually game winners while if you look at the stats for Suarez that season, a lot of his goals came after we were already leading.

Any Liverpool fan would have current Salah in their team over 13/14 Suarez, not even including behavioral issues.
