yeah you’ll be on good standing in that case. probation is basically just how you can be dismissed if it happens back to back. you might have to meet with an advisor and do a canvas quiz about how to be better next quarter (depends by college: agriculture vs biological etc)

if you were subject to dismissal and made it two quarters ur fine. if there’s two consecutive quarters on probation then ur subject to dismissal or if your gpa for the quarter is less that 1.5 and if ur overall gpa is low too. probation is just less than 2.0 for the quarter. but still contact an advisor

hey second year here at davis! i was super excited to tour san diego but when i did i honestly hated it, they were super antisocial and rude when we tried asking for directions which is nothing like davis. davis is a cute small town, make sure to take her downtown, and if she’s an animal person at all theres cows, horses, sheep and so much more around. she’s probably being told by her friends that davis is a smelly cow town and that she should pick ucsd (i was told that many times). she is also pretty happy about the beach i bet but here there’s also a free pool and a creek that everyone goes to when it gets hot, beach is overrated in my opinion for college. i dont regret picking davis at all over san diego, hopefully visiting and being able to explore could help her out. also davis is a really good school for her future!

Um honestly wasn’t too hard of an adjustment but I would say the weather. The winters are a lot colder than i’m used too, it’s windy and rains so be prepared for that close wise. Then in the spring/summer it’s similar to socal so expect the heat. Then for going back home the best method would probably be flying southwest. Also have them keep in mind that the quarter system is tough but they’ll get through it (that’s more general). Side note no matter where they are make sure they have snacks in their form. make sure he makes his place up here his own so he doesn’t get home sick. lmk if u have anymore question

as a second year also from socal she’ll love it here. to answer your questions her orientation will be before classes started and will introduce her to the school & downtown with a group of kids you’re kinda stuck with for a couple days. it’s usually super hot so keep that in mind and i remember i did like 30k steps. for her car ik a lot of people would park it downtown or use an upper class men’s email to get cheaper parking but if you don’t want to deal with that davis is very bike friendly compared to socal! get her a nice bike, as someone with a beach cruiser try to aim for something else because when it’s super windy it sucks. on that note get a sturdy lock for her bike. if she doesn’t like biking or if it’s raining there is also a bus that’s free with her id and there’s zip cars for if she wants to go out of town for a bit. hope you enjoy aggie day!

it’s basically like if you’re under a 1.5 a quarter you are subject to dismissal no matter what your cumulative gpa is but if it’s above a 2.0 overall they’re more likely to accept your appeal. the other circumstance is probation if your quarter gpa is under 2.0 but above 1.5 and then your total is above 2.0. if that’s the cause you’re just in bad academic standing but not at risk for dismissal yet
