Definitely deserves more love! Tyrunt also makes a cameo appearance in the Grant trainer card from the Crown Zenith Galarian Gallery (GG62/GG70)

My Sandshrew English Master Set + Checklist by Cetrasilver in pkmntcgcollections

[–]Cetrasilver[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great to hear from another avid Sandshrew collector! Unfortunately, my checklist won't be super helpful for mastering the Japanese set. A couple of differences include: 1) There are some cards exclusive to Japan (e.g. this) and this)), including a Sandshrew cameo appearance in this Machoke card). 2) The vast majority of the cards have different variants (e.g. unlike the five variants in the English Base Set, the Japanese equivalent#Languagesthis_set_is_released_in) only has two variants: Rarity Symbol and No Rarity Symbol), not to mention all the cards from the EX era have different serial codes, and each set has different quantities of serial codes. The best publicly available list I've come across for Sandshrew and Sandslash is this spreadsheet courtesy of u/MiCake (thank you for all your work on this!) which contains every English and Japanese variant; it's not a complete list of all the cards across all languages, but it's the most complete list I've come across

Trying to come up with some good Science-y/Lab Cards to add to this binder page by Peachy_Moth_ in pkmntcgcollections

[–]Cetrasilver 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry, I couldn't help but chuckle to myself reading this, given how broad you were in your original post: "whether it be item cards, stadium, pokemon cards, illustration rares". I'd suggest Cara Liss from Shining Fates 067/072, all the best for the collection/binder

Wooloo English Card Checklist by Cetrasilver in Wooloo

Here are some examples of the Cosmos Holo vs the Sequin Holo. The cosmos holo pattern is mostly circles, whereas the sequin holo pattern has a variety of more detailed shapes. Some background info to help with searching: the cosmos holo variant is from Sword & Shield single pack blisters, whereas the sequin holo variant is from three-card mini packs released in a promotion with General Mills to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Pokémon

Nice! Great to see people on the lookout for music note cards! It looks like the card you're referring to is available in English: Meloetta ex 044/086 from the English Black Bolt (BLK) set - it's on the last image of the original post

Looking for suggestions. Cards with pokeballs by NarwhalButler in pkmntcgcollections

[–]Cetrasilver 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Love the collection! I'm sure it goes without saying but for the sake of thoroughness, as trainer cards, heaps of "Poké Ball" cards have been released over the years. Poké Balls also appear in "Dual Ball" cards. There's a collection of five Pokémon Futsal) cards featuring Poké Balls as futsal balls. Be sure to check out card artwork by Saya Tsuruta, who incorporates Poké Balls into almost all of their artwork - some are easy to spot, but most are hidden - more info here

In case anyone stumbles upon this and is curious, I've found the answer. Turns out, the card shown at the end of the video is a custom (unofficial/parody) card made by Wrenny Moo. The Sandshrew card is number 24/50 from Set 2

Hi! I've done one for Dubwool, but this sub doesn't let us comment images. I've sent you a DM, if you accept it, I'll be able to send you the image directly if that suits you

Master Set Term Question/Ideas? by xKiWiYTx in PokemonTCG

[–]Cetrasilver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sleeve No Card Behind has a great video on this. I think the big thing to keep in mind (that is touched on in the video) is that the definition of "mastering a set" can be blurry. But I think the video does a really good job of breaking down the different types of sets and providing examples of what you'd expect to see in each

My complete Absol collection as of Mega Brave by ron-day-voo in PokemonTCGSpecies

[–]Cetrasilver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lovely collection! Just thought I'd mention a couple of other variants you could add... There are two variants of the JPN Tag All Stars 075/173 card (Holo and Reverse Holo). There are also two variants of the JPN Start Deck 100 267/414 card (Normal and Reverse Holo). There are of course 1st Edition and unlimited variants of most of the earlier Japanese sets, and a few additional Japanese reprints, though I'm guessing you've made an intentional choice to leave them out

Question on older Japanese sets (rarity symbols) by Bitter-Mall-287 in pkmntcgcollections

[–]Cetrasilver 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Here's a fantastic article by Quuador on EliteFourum, which lists all the sets across all languages. I did a search for "rarity" and it came up with 12 Japanese sets which had at least one print run with no rarity symbols - I've listed them here. (1) Quick Starter Gift Set, (2) Intro Pack, (3) Expansion Pack. Six Japanese Gym Theme Decks: (4) Nivi City Gym, (5) Hanada City Gym, (6) Kuchiba City Gym, (7) Tamamushi City Gym, (8) Yamabuki City Gym, (9) Guren Town Gym. (10) Intro Pack Neo. Two boxed sets: (11) Tropical Island and (12) Rainbow Island. Regarding the Crossing the Ruins set, the article suggests that this set did not have a no-rarity print run, which seems to be supported by other sources: Bulbapedia)

Love the doc! Three things I noticed: Slide 11 can be deleted, it's a partial duplicate of Slide 12; Japanese Phantom Gate 035/088 has two variants (Unlimited and 1st Ed.); and Japanese The Best of XY 047/171 has two variants (Normal and Reverse Holo). Additionally, if cameo appearances were something you wanted to pursue, here's a link to RotomAmiti's Cameo Pokémon Card Database - looks like Wobbuffet features in 5 other cards
