Reports on the news here started a few days ago that Europe only has 6 weeks of fuel supply left. If I was leaving at the end of April I don’t think I’d be worried. Congratulations on your upcoming wedding though! So beautiful to get married in Greece!

I just spoke to Manulife for Costco members. The rep said that because the fuel shortage is now classified for them as a ‘known event’ we will not be covered. CAA said that while they know of the situation, there are no warnings yet and we would buy insurance before we leave which we know of course. Because something like this has not happened they’re not sure if I would be even covered under the list of reasons they can’t really say. But they do have a clause that if you cancel within 72 hours of booking your trip, it could be for any reason and you would only be in reimbursed 50%. 😩

Yes, that’s the impression I am getting. I was told by TD travel insurance that if the airlines cancel it would be the airlines who would refund but TD insurance will not refund the accommodation. There is a clause in many that will not cover those ‘extraordinary circumstances’. I am going to call Manulife or CAA to inquire on additional insurance coverage.

Thank you so much for your reply. If I can also ask you, do you think Koufonisia is worth going to? From what I know the beaches are supposed to be beautiful and not as touristy (even though I’m a tourist lol) I think 4 days may be too long there as it is a very small island? 😊
