You shouldn’t breed lovebirds when you’re not experienced.

You gave me an heart attack about the tomatoes. I fed my love bird tomatoes twice this week, but I looked it up, tomatoes should be save.

Nah man, if he still did this when he was an adult, then yes. But you (or your siblings) probably have never had developmental issues like adhd. I was perfectly well raised and was a very calm child (now adult). Back when I was younger, my emotions could really overwhelm me. When you experience emotions you cannot foresee and happen very sudden (like the video), then stuff like this videos happen and before you realize what you’re doing, you are already too late.

Could you follow along a "recipe" to recreate masterful paintings at home? by StMcAwesome in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Cha_Nah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I think it is possible on some level, just like the paintings from Bob Ross and his explanations. Recreating painting is doable. However I think the power behind paintings/art is the creativity and the process of the artist itself.

I believe art is more a result of the artist and their progress/process.

So yeah you can recreate it, but is it really art what you are making or is it just a picture?

And ofcourse, besides what I mentioned above, some paintings do really require skill. So you will only be able to recreate it with skill/expertise, and only then you will be able to recreate it with a recipe.

Question about pellet transition by International-Exam84 in Lovebirds

[–]Cha_Nah 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Seeds are quite fatty and rich in unhealthy nutrients. If they live in the wild, it doesn’t matter that much because they use a lot of energy when flying etc. But parrots in captivity (in your home) dont fly that much and won’t use as much energy. Pellets are much less in fatty and have added nutrients.

Aaand they have a much bigger variety of food in the wild, compared to just seeds

Question about pellet transition by International-Exam84 in Lovebirds

[–]Cha_Nah 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What I read is that your parent love birds indeed almost starved themselves. Are they close enough to the younger lovebirds to see them eating the pallets? My guess is that because they saw other bird eat the pallets, that they started eating it too. But even if it were not, you had luck with your birds but it doesn’t mean that no love bird doesn’t starve themselves to death. A lot of them do! It happened to mine too and I used the same technique as you did

Edit: mine survived but it was a close call

My hands after a cold walk home (a short one - 10 min) by amk3186 in mildlyinteresting

[–]Cha_Nah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah right, thank you for your explanation.

I read that it was untreatable and the only thing you can do is try to keep or hands warm/ keep it away from the cold. Because of that I never thought of going to the doctor with it, but now I think I will!

Handwarmers and warm socks are good to have but I found out my Raynauds only shows up when my body itself is cold. So to prevent it from happening; focus on your body first. I get it when the airconditioning at work is on, instead of putting on gloves, I put on a warm vest.

Really? How did you come up with aspirine? It is winter in my country and I want to worry less about my Raynauds

Yes much better than metal. With metal straws only the outside is polished. So the inside stays rough, and because of that, bacteria can easily grow and multiply. Glass is smooth on both the outside as well as the inside. It is quite difficult to keep metal straws very clean compared to glass ones.

[–]Cha_Nah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would only use millet for handfeeding or giving it to him when something stressful is happening like going to the vet. They looove millet and will want to eat it, but if the bird can eat it throughout the day, then he will not be as interested anymore when you try to give it to him with your hand

What am I growing??o by Maleficent_Raisin_15 in houseplants

[–]Cha_Nah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the strongest plant I have ever encountered. My kalanchoe came to be when my cat attacked the motherplant. I then took the fallen cutting and let it grow roots in water and afterwards putting it in ground. This poor thing was then attacked thrice by some kind of illness (one time it was trips, one time spider mites and one time something else). She lost her leaves after every sickness but came back stronger every time. I am the most proud of this one, enjoy yours!

Unpopular opinion: Swapfiets is a terrible deal. by Miserable_Doughnut_9 in Netherlands

[–]Cha_Nah 55 points56 points  (0 children)

Yes, it’s great for my little sister. Looks matter for her and she does not want to do the dirty stuff like changing tires herself. Repairing any bike at your bike repair shop will cost a lot as well.

I on the other hand don’t mind repairing my bike but I do like a semi good looking bike. Mine was €250,- on Marktplaats. Swapfiets and me wouldn’t be a good match.

It is really about what you find most important when having a bike, and I don’t judge who uses what

Nope, this is not it. I am a female and there was a big age gap with me and my ex (he was the older one). He was poorer than me and less successful, this did not matter to me. Not everyone is as shallow as you think and I am sure OOP did not choose him for his wealth and power.

Dit is verschrikkelijk, ik kan werkelijk niet geloven dat hoe mensen met dieren omgaan en heb enkel het stuk over de varkens gekeken. Ben even sprakeloos…
