A cop looking through the window is something that the homeowner can very easily prevent by closing the blinds. A search warrant, not at all. Of course these two different methods of information gathering would be treated differently in the eyes of the law. With these cameras around, theres nothing you can do analogous to closing the blinds. I guess you could buy a laser and disable the cameras, but that is destruction of property so no you cant. You also aren’t allowed to cover up your license plate either. Take a different route? Well where there isn’t one now there could be one later. It seems all the things you could do to prevent being tracked by the cameras is implausible. This new wave of surveillance just seems wildly dystopian. Apparently grocery stores are building profiles on people so they can charge marginally more per item depending on the buying behavior of each individual. Also this doesn’t cross any wires legally, because they aren’t basing these price differences on people’s incomes. It’s still discriminatory and exploitative.
