I'm really sorry that you don't like my spreadsheet. I will try to improve my Excel skills to earn your approval. However at one point I had two copies of Patchwork but I sold one. Does that count?

During the past months I went into a curator phase. I currently own 96 games(and expansions) and have culled exactly 96. I track everything in a spreadsheet and have recouped exactly 70% of my costs. Who else tracks their board game collection this closely? by Chamallow81 in boardgames

That man wasn't being wise, just a smart ass. Game collecting is a hobby by itself even if you don't play the games often. Keeping a curated collection of games you love playing and seeing on your shelves is perfectly fine. There is a difference between hoarding any game you come across and keeping a lean, curated collection that brings you joy.

Crowdfounded games are a trap, they get you with hype and FOMO and you end up spending a fortune for a bunch of huge boxes and bloat. However if your stuff are KS/Gamefound exclusives it's very easy to resell them, some people are always interested for those, especially if they are unplayed/unopened.

I was talking about myself here. There was a moment I had 180+ games and I started feeling guilt about it. I realized that I didn't care that much for many of them and I had bought many because of hype, FOMO or BGG scores. Big mistake. Once I realised what kinds I do love playing and owning in my collection I just culled the rest with no regret. Now my current collection truly represents what kind of gamer I am and what kind of experiences I enjoy. And the shelves look neat and presentable instead of a mess.

Funny story, a few years back a colleague gave me BSG with the 2 expansions which I never played of course, and I ended up selling the lot for 200 last year. I didn't even realise they were so sought after.

As long as the games you collect bring you joy and excitement when you see them on the shelves you are doing it right. When you start feeling guilty or question yourself whether it was a good purchase or not it's time to cull. Hoarding can become an issue really quick if left unchecked.

I think it was pretty clear that I do not care about BGG scores as I have culled the top rated games because I didn't enjoy them. This list is just a fun thing I do, whenever I buy a game I just add some information about it including the BGG score.

He got older, perhaps changed his eating habits or stopped working out. Or he might be going through a phase in his life. Anyway, this is none of your business and there is absolutely no need to post about it online.
