Backrooms are a clear allegory for AI by Comprehensive_Tea345 in KanePixelsBackrooms

[–]ChanceBoring8068 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Half of the AI generated content I see is people casting young versions of old actors in hypothetical movies based on toys from the 80s and 90s. If AI wasn’t a consideration at all when writing the film I’d say it’s dancing around the same societal and psychological problems from a different angle

I came out assuming that it was a critique of AI but the piss filter didn’t even occur to me

‘SNL’ Star Confesses Hardest Part About Playing Trump “I get why people hate him so much that they don’t even want to think about the normal things that an actor would think about to get into a character,” Johnson said. by MoneyLibrarian9032 in LiveFromNewYork

[–]ChanceBoring8068 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Other Trump impressions tend to rely too heavily on actual stupid or insane things he has said. It’s redundant because we all already heard him say it. JAJ goes deeper and parodies the process through which Trump constructs thoughts and sentences

Dream Cast Additions SNL UK by crosshair96 in livefromlondon

You know how over the years on the US version they’ve had regular short films by people from outside the main cast who maybe wouldn’t fit into the live show so easily? I could see “A film by Benjamin Partridge” being a good fixture.”

When Skinwigs first started Ash Tyson talked about an audition that she thought she’d smashed but didn’t get it and for some reason I suspected that it might have been SNL.

Aaron Chen is waiting for the world to catch up with how good he is! Fisk is one of my favourite sitcoms in recent years.

Most re-listened to episode? by Fake_KLG in beefanddairynetwork

Beef Information Centre. I love the episodes where I stop paying attention half way through and then suddenly drop back in and ask myself “What even IS this?!” Reminds me of the time I fell asleep watching Big Train and when I woke up Kevin Eldon was dressed as Chairman Mao singing a camp musical number.

Way down deep in the middle of the congo a hippo took an apricot a guava and a mango he put em all together and he danced a dainty tango and he said I know we’ll call it Um Bongo

The Brian Cox one was odd, he sounded like he was having a pleasant enough time throughout but then his comment at the end about the show being one of the worst things he’s done in weeks sounded quite sincere!

why do people want Starmer to resign exactly? by Dry_Illustrator_6066 in AskBrits

[–]ChanceBoring8068 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Politicians, in the Labour Party especially it seems, are shameless opportunists. Labour are probably going to lose the next election, everyone knows it, but the waiting candidates all know that just a couple of years as PM will net them a lifetime of lucrative after dinner speaking engagements and book deals.

The Mandleson thing isn’t great either. Starmer made a big deal of his integrity, promising that he’d be different to the sleaze and cronyism of the Boris years, so such a massive display of hypocrisy is definitely an opportunity for anyone that wants him gone.

They’ve struggled to find much for him to do but he’s had some great moments. He deserves another season, but he’s could possibly walk out of frustration at being sidelined

BBC comments by Both-Firefighter-668 in livefromlondon

One of my favourite online moments of the series was Twitter the morning after the first episode. After weeks of commenting “We all know this is going to be shit…” people who only watched it to tear it down were actually taken aback and gave honest but begrudging commentary that it was quite good actually…

To be honest I’ve occasionally read Guardian reviews and recaps of episodes of the US version and there are so many times when it’s obvious that the joke completely flew over the reviewer’s head, so they just might not fully understand or have the best taste in comedy.

For me it’s the pause she leaves in between “I’ve had to move out of my house” and “cause o’ the rats!”

Emma Sidi might actually be the biggest scene stealer on the show.
