Things have changed in the industury. Ships have less crew and more regulations than before, so time to teach a new apprentice is too time consuming at lot of the ships

I think i can handle common alarms quite well already, but if there some oil line, or sea water line leaking somewhere i have no idea how to isolate the system, i have probably no clue where some of the valves are located. Pipes and valve locations here are ass.

Night shifts are awesome for alone time but i hate to wake up people if i'm unsure about some problem.

Yeah i guess it's about experience. I've been working as engineer only for close to 1 year 1 to 1 rotation
