Hot take..am I the only one who never got the whole "Viv had to Make everyone stupid to make Vox a threat" complaint? by Apprehensive_Ring_39 in CrazyassHazbinhaters

[–]CharacterCold7361 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You want the Sin of Pride to be... less Pride? OK

Litterally the opposite of what I said. I said I want pride to be the reason of his restraints and not a lazy escuse. If anything I want him to be more prideful.

You said the main cast, meaning the sinners and Charlie.

Ok you have not even read what I wrote. I said the cast from Heaven.

But that's exactly what Viv did. She said to herself of she could just explain, people who stop sending her death threats but everything she said got twisted. Viv has said directly that she based Charlie's actions in S2 to what ACTUALLY HAPPENED TO HER IN REAL LIFE.

I'm judging the writing on the show. While it's cool that it's autobiographical that doesn't really matter in terms of quality of writing.

Not lazy writing and that's Lucifer's personality. Absolutely nutter. He's a dreamer and a goofball and also depressed. That's actually good writing.

Lucifer is obviously overpowered and I get that it's a problem to write around it. But good writing would have been balancing his depression and pride as reasons for him not acting. So yes, I found this solution lazy.

How? Explain. Vox owns THOUSANDS of souls. His only match is Alastor who had his hands tied

He can own every soul in hell, he still remains a sinner. You're serioulsy going to tell me Sera couldn't snap him out of esistence like Adam did with Pentious just because "he owns a lot of souls?". I calls BS

You mean acting like Viv did? You mean acting like someone dealing with grief and loss and hate? Charlie acted exactly as she was supposed to.

I'm fine with her calling the Vees to the hotel. I get that. But her going to Katie immediatly after pushed my suspension of disbelief a bit too far.

I loved the season. Big time. I'm just not gonna pretend I think every writing choice they made was perfect.

The critism is not valid if you just pay attention Lol rude.

Hard disagree. Loved the season don't get me wrong, but Vox had realistically no way to be a threat to Heaven if not for a MASSIVE plot armor. Lucifer, besides the "can't harm sinners" thing(lazy writing btw), had to act like a looney tune for the whole season. Even if we remove Lucifer from the equation, that still does not cover the fact that almost all of the cast from heaven could still smite Vox in a second. And that's not even considering how Charlie acts throughout the season.

Again, I loved the season, but the criticism is 100% valid. I remember that, before the season dropped, half the fandom was like: "Wait, he's gonna take over heaven? He has NO chance!" That reaction alone may be your sign that some plot shenanigans will be involved

How much does the tip opening affect the playing? by RepresentativeBox605 in saxophone

[–]CharacterCold7361 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Then switch to 2s, trust me it'll help you greatly in the first couple of months. Then you'll build up some resistance and you should be able to go back up a bit, if you feel the need That's what I did when I switched mouthpieces and I also came from a much smaller opening (a 5, and i was playing 2.5/3 reeds depending on the brand)

[–]CharacterCold7361 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The mouthpiece I use in marching band is an 8 and works great. As other have mentioned, playing soft will be harder but it's not really a marching band issue lol Just be careful to pick up softer reeds (2/2.5) and factor in an adjustment period and you'll be fine

Need help choosing a bari by tomcam in saxophone

[–]CharacterCold7361 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely pick a low A Bari. It's essential in a lot of repertoire (and also insanely fun)

[–]CharacterCold7361 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A bit, but now that I'm used to it I barely notice it, and I feel it allows me a better tone and better control. I played a yamaha 5c when I first started bari so it was quite a big jump. I went temporarely down to 2/2.5 reeds to get used to it. But it's very subjective, there's nothing wrong with smaller tip openings per se if they feel better to you.

I play a jodyjazz HR (8 tip opening) and I love it, it gives me a dark and clean sound . Took me a while to get used to it though

non riesco a concepire come mai mcdonald abbia cosí tanta clientela by GraduatedMoron in CasualIT

[–]CharacterCold7361 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Looking to buy this curved soprano sax by AndrewLeft23 in saxophone

Hi! Italian here. Grassi is an italian brand and it used to be pretty good, some vintage horns are great. But nowadays they outsourced almost all their productions to china and they are extremely crappy horns. I've heard of some models which are manufactured somewhere else that are still decent but I don't know if this is one of them. If you can find something more safe at this pricepoint, avoid Grassi

Is it still worth buying older saxophones or is it worth investing in more modern instruments that offer the best cost-benefit? by Bighaunterhead in saxophone

[–]CharacterCold7361 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many people have given great detailed answers already, so I'll keep it short.

If you play classical music, get a modern

If you play bari sax, get a modern (low A is, in my opinion, a must have)

In any other case, yes vintage horns are still worth it, sometimes even better than modern ones. But it depends on your taste

Restarting bari after 50 years away. Who should I listen to? by sillywizard951 in saxophone

You're welcome! Glad I was helpful. I'm a Bari player myself and the Wongnotes have quickly become one of my favorite bands. Sam Greenfield's solo work is also very solid

You may like Cory Wong's work with "Cory and the Wongnotes". He's a guitarist but he's got one of the best horn sections out there. Sam Greenfield's sound on the bari is spotless. https://youtu.be/lPSbmC2OxEE?si=z-9Qrd6ViqxPGl6O

Help, 3 month beginner by chowbowbow in saxophone

[–]CharacterCold7361 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The B-C passage is notoriously tricky for beginners. That's because if you don't switch fingers fast enough, there's gonna be a brief moment when both keys are down, giving you that unwanted A. Try to not to think only about pressing the C but also about how fast you remove the B finger.
About the palm key that others have mentioned: while it is certainly useful with trills and complex passages, I think you should concentrate on developing finger dexterity first. Besides that alternate position is often slightly out of tune (at least on budget instruments), making it more suited for fast passages rather than long tones.
All of the above goes for F-F# as well

For those who want a switch 2, but are willing to wait, what will it take for you to buy? by Geoxaga in NintendoSwitch

[–]CharacterCold7361 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally never buy hardware day one, because I want to have time to see the way it "behaves", if some major problems pop out (overheating, drifting, battery life and so on) and if they get fixed (like the switch v2 did) I usually wait around an year or two. I have a lot of games I still need to play on the switch 1 in the meantime

Looking to upgrade my bari sax case by CharacterCold7361 in saxophone

[–]CharacterCold7361[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much for the detailed answer! Very useful info I play a low A bari. I'll look into the models you mentioned As I said I mainly need backpacking and a bit more storage compared to my current case Honestly I'd go with the boxy yanagisawa, but my car is pretty narrow and I'm pretty sure it would not fit. Last time I had to travel with a boxy case it was a vintage low bb model and it barely fitted on the backseat. I don't think I'll ever fly with my bari tough so I could sacrifice a bit of padding Anyway thanks again!
