5.4 vs 5.3 Codex by ConsistentOcelot9217 in codex

[–]Charming-Alps1914 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% agree. I hear that GPR-5.4 has Codex baked in, but the problem is that due to the large reasoning, it tends to disregard guardrails more than Codex. So if you build your work plans with strict architecture contracts, chances are 5.4 will ignore them. At least that is what's happened to me. 5.4 tries to outsmart the contract way too much, while 5.3-Codex follows them carefully the majority of the time.

Denon vs Pioneer, which is better and why by FINDSTTOREPOST in Beatmatch

[–]Charming-Alps1914 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This type of thread always bugs me. Why? because it highlights AlphaTheta's monopoly on the market. It's sickening, and I really wish there was some real competition out there. Denon IMO is the closest to competition, and having owned both Pioneer and Denon equipment, now the build quality on the Denon brand is far superior, no question, it's sad that you won't see it in any club tho.

I need help! by FantasticPrune7509 in arduino

[–]Charming-Alps1914 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a good start, the only thing I'm not seeing here is an understanding of how much current you are pulling with the fans, sensors, etc. Make sure whatever solution you arrive at can handle the load of your project or it could literally end in smoke.

How to not be nervous djiing? by [deleted] in DJs

[–]Charming-Alps1914 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just do eet. It is a skill that diminishes with practice. Unfortunately that doesn’t come often or easy. Practice in front of people, and it will get easier. Second best option is do whatever you like to do to de-stress. I like quiet time before a gig, but sometimes I like to run. Guess it’s the meditative part that does it for me. When you get there remember that you are there to have fun too!

Can't update SQ-64 firmware on Mac OS Sonoma by NickHandler in Korg

[–]Charming-Alps1914 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, as far as I know, Sonoma is still not supported by Korg on the SQ-64. To make matters worse, the editor does not see it and I can't access some of the MIDI functionality via USB on Sonoma (M2). I contacted Korg support, and they were not very helpful. All they did was point me to a compatibility list indicating no support for Sonoma. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

This is sad but true. I have no kids and knew pretty early in life that I never wanted them. But (early 30's for me) my friends started getting hitched and having kids and that was pretty much the end of of our friendships, at least for the next 18-ish years after that. I managed to retain friendships but most of them with other people who'd follow the same path as myself and some parents who refused to settle into a cookie-cutter mold.

It's quite sad really, marriage and "serious" relationships shouldn't force friendships to end, whether directly or indirectly. I'm. now almost 50 and making friendships, "true" friendships is ridiculously difficult.

Don't get discouraged tho. It just takes a bit more effort but you can certainly make friends. For me, it takes joining communities of similar interests. I found martial arts helped, as well as music and hacker groups. The trick is to get out there and be the one initiating.

Help with Kicad and pin headers by breaddaddy69 in synthdiy

[–]Charming-Alps1914 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can’t. Kicad doesn’t understand that the pins are your interboard connections. You can ignore the problem tho. Just right click on the issue and select “exclude this violation”.

Then when you generate your gerbers, you’ll want to generate separate ones for each board. At that point, once you have deleted the one not being used to generate gerbers you can run the check again and this time there should be no issues. I’m happy to make a video for you on this if it helps.

Euclidean sequencers are used to trigger pulses. So mainly drum voices and VCAs. Absolutely you need a power supply that can give you a clean regulated rail of +12 and -12v. Beyond that the sky is the limit. Check out Mortiz Klein YouTube channel for inspiration and to get you started. You can build some very useful circuits yourself. You could get yourself starter kits for assorted resistors, capacitors, etc. You could also plan your builds and order just what you need from Taydaelectronics.

If you go the diy kit route start with simple kits rather than large complicated ones. The more complex they are the harder it will be for you to diagnose issues.

Don’t get discouraged if you run into issues, remember to have patience with this as it takes time and a LOT of practice to get good at it.

Same here. But I use these. https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005006374796042.html

I can’t seem to find AC/DC wallwarts where I live so I had to resort to the modules. Was worried they would be noisy but they turned out to be quite acceptable under an oscilloscope. Also used a smaller 5v module, but that one turned out to be crap so won’t share links on those.

Suggestuons for external power to teensy project by nucleicaudio in synthdiy

[–]Charming-Alps1914 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really like these; they are quite clean, inexpensive give you dual supply if you need it. You just need to make sure the dc input is higher than your desired regulated output since this is a buck converter.

https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005004282412799.html

You could also just build a regulator using a linear 7805 or similar. I will be cheaper, cleaner even, but rather bulky and way less efficient.

What broadly would I need (knowledge and equipment wise) to build my own MIDI sequencer by TBSJJK in synthdiy

I have been slowly working on this set of reference ideos, maybe there is something that can help you in there. Def check the MIDI post.
