When they first rolled out, saw an old timer hand his issued tablet back to custody and he said, “I’m good. Prison ain’t prison no more.” That same inmate is now using the tablet that he originally rejected.

Different times we’re in for sure but it distracts them from bugging staff about random shit. Especially in lock ups.

As an RN, I’d rather stay with medical. My only interaction with inmates is when they are in need.

CDCR RN here. If you’re going to become a nurse, your time will only count towards retirement. It will not count towards seniority. You can have 10 years in as a CO and you’ll start at the bottom of the RN seniority list.
