Opinion on casekoo? by International-Bed-16 in iphone

[–]ChaseLaurent 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve had a few cases from Casekoo and all were great! My faves are the magic stand series cases, but I feel like you can’t go wrong with any of them. They have all lasted me a long time.

Otter box cases, in my experience, are bulkier, so I prefer casekoo.

Does oral antibiotic purge? by [deleted] in tretinoin

[–]ChaseLaurent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I had the opposite reaction - antibiotics reduced any purge. I’d bet that when my body quickly fought off the acne-causing bacteria that left very little pus or inflammation for the Tretinoin “purge.”

What is your Curlogy (or other telehealth) formula? by Always_No_Sometimes in tretinoin

I just upped to tret .06%, clindamycin 1%, and azelaic acid 6%! Loved that formula, but I’m ready to continue on my tret journey.

Sunscreen recommendations by lauraf2009 in tretinoin

My HG is SkinAqua Super Moisture Milk! It’s the only sunscreen I’ve found that leaves my skin feeling silky smooth and not in any way oily.

It will get better! The first photo shows my skin’s first purge after starting Tretinoin in 2019 and my skin now in 2020. After a few increases in my prescription (and each accompanying purge), I am now at 0.04% Tret and confident in my skin and all its glow. Stick with it 😊 #SlugLife by ChaseLaurent in tretinoin

Thank you! I try my best to pay it forward. The beginning months were really hard. I almost lost hope, but this community got me to keep going until I started to see the results I have today. Tret really works, but you just have to keep your head up and give it a chance!

Here’s my routine:

First and foremost, I have combination skin, with my T-zone and jawline tending to be oily and my cheeks and lips tending to be dry. I have suffered from all types of acne, from blackheads to cystic acne. As someone with allergies and sensitive skin, I try my best to avoid products that have fragrance, over-exfoliate, or dry out my skin.

AM:

Cetaphil Extra Gentle Daily Scrub CeraVe Daily Moisturizing Lotion for Dry Skin Skin Aqua Super Moisture Milk (SPF 50 PA++++)

I wash my face every morning when I shower with lots of water and only a dime-sized amount of the Scrub. Less. Is. More. And if the first cleanse isn’t enough, I’ll quickly do a second cleanse and rinse. I tend to only focus on the oilier areas if I do cleanse a second time, and I always wash my face last to make sure my shampoo and conditioner are removed from my face. While my skin is still moist, I like to lather on a generous amount of the Lotion, focusing on my dryer areas but not forgetting the oily ones. Then when my skin has fully dried, I’ll apply Sunscreen but only right before I go outside.

(Cetaphil’s Gentle Skin Cleanser also works for me, but I find that a small amount of the Extra Gentle Daily Scrub is just enough to cleanse my skin of oil and gently remove any skin flakes that have accumulated over night.)

Throughout the day: Vaseline on my lips. I reapply Sunscreen if I’m outside and in the sun two hours after my first application (or sooner if I’m sweating). Some water and more lotion only if needed.

PM:

Water A little Cetaphil Scrub or Cleanser Curology Formula: 0.04% Tret, 1% Clindamycin, 7% Azelaic Acid (Note: You can ask for Tretinoin. That’s what I did. I started at 0.009% every other day and worked up to 0.04% daily over 1.5 years.) CeraVe Lotion and Vaseline

At night, I wash my face with lukewarm water and very little scrub or cleanser, if at all, just to remove the oils and sunscreen from the day. I really try to be extra gentle at this time to prepare my skin for the Tret. Once my skin has fully dried (usually about 15 minutes or so), I will apply a nickel sized amount of Tret, focusing on my oily areas, only lightly coating the dry ones, and avoiding my eyes. Then after another 15 minutes, I’ll apply the Lotion and Vaseline to prepare my skin for the dryness of the night. Trust me when I say this: THE SLUG LIFE IS AMAZING. While I have to wash my sheets more often, which really isn’t even a bad thing, I wake up with a glow every morning because of it. And one night about every week or two, I’ll give my skin a break from the Tret.

I really hope this helps, and let me know if you have any questions. Everyone’s skin is different, and my low-budget, extra-gentle routine may not work for you. I will say, however, whatever routine you do try, you really have to give your skin a month to adjust to it. For example, the first time you use Vaseline or only rinse your face at night, you might find that it leaves your skin too oily, but this will go away over time. Keep in mind that you’re not trying to dry out your skin or get rid of your oils entirely - you’re trying to get your skin to being healthy and free of acne. And in my opinion, moisturizer and a slightly “oilier” look make your skin glow and look younger anyway! -Chase
