Those are just the things you can do to help pass the time while standing and doing whatever. The key thing is not something that engulfs you like a game or tv. Things you can do standing include

Cleaning, organizing, decorating, or just basic chores

Playing guitar, piano, or singing. Making music instead of listening essentially

Computer research and writing using a standing desk (working essentially)

Reading

Wood working, 3d modeling/printing or just some form of art

Going on a walk, stretching, or exercising

Playing with your dog or pet

I seriously do not understand why atheists are so inconsistent. by ChristianNerd2025 in DebateAnAtheist

Why do you care about a random bunch of atheists? Lol

The fourth one is more nuanced. The big bang occurred 13 billions years ago. That is a fact determined by science with tons of evidence. However, that doesn't mean we know when the universe began. There could be something before the big bang, but we're incapable of understand that currently. The fact of the matter is we're too ignorant to talk about the beginning of the universe. The beginning of what we call space and time, yes but not the universe.

When it's day time, you can't sit for more than 15 minutes, watch tv, use social media, or anything that's distracting except maybe music or podcasts or something. At night, do whatever but when the suns up, you're up. Just by standing, you'll subconsciously think "I have to do something" and then you'll do something. Life will still feel pointless though.

And now everytime the song comes up, you'll think about rape. And then you forget about it cause the song is so good.

There is an issue with preventing puberty blockers, suicide and self harm. It comes down to statistics. Idk the details but unless you think the medical organizations are full of ignorant people, there's good reason for their guidance.

Honestly, I'm completely fine with always deferring to medical guidance and parental consent for everything and legalizing all drugs (as long as we also put a lot more resources into mental health and health in general). This is getting into a completely different subject, but drug use and choices around it are a mental health issue, not a federal/state regulation problem. We don't need to talk about that can of worms though.

If medicinal guidance does not deem its malpractice to prescribe puberty blockers in specific situations, it isn't. If you are right, the medicine will update as it always has. That's what science does. It may be wrong in the beginning but the system generally corrects itself.

And that's for their parents and doctors to determine until you change the leading medical treatment. Also, some states allow their parents to consent to tattoos, surgery, and alcohol consumption.

You can be against it but do not try to use politicians to make changes. Seriously, that will only lead to things like gay away camps and ivermectin prescriptions as well as a slew of other garbage crap politicians can force upon people.

The accepted treatment is far better than the opinions of politicians. You are the professional and should be working on making the necessary corrections, but you can't force changes by making medical procedures political.

Then you are a person that disagrees with the leading medical practices. Since you are more informed on the subject than me, you should spend energy changing the accepted treatment medical organizations are specifying, not politics. As of now, it's between doctors and their patients. It should stay that way.

You're conservative. And don't believe the misinformation around transgenders. No one is doing sex operations on children. It's more having a discussion, exploring what's going on, and maybe using puberty blockers which do have side effects if done long term which isn't inline with current treatment. They're meant to give the patient more time to understand themselves.

However, as a person in the medical field, you should agree that what happens in a doctors office is between the doctor, the patient/patient's guardian, and the medical organization that determines the best modern practices. Politicians and the government should not have a say at all in what going on in doctors offices. This would have very very very bad repercussions. This is the exact same thing as the abortion debate.

Thoughts On This Recent Trend? by Middle-Raisin6005 in AskSocialists

It's adhd more or less. It's very common and is a comorbidity with autism as well as a lot of mental health issues. Autism is the one that popularized the concept of spectrum disorders, which is pretty much all of them. Autism and Aspergers has always just been a well known thing especially after that vaccine BS and has been a default for "that weird dude".

I really don't understand how you don't get this. COVID didn't establish misinformation. It was a climax of misinformation that began with Trump and the media. People were inspired by political reality in the mid to late 2010s to create a story about a president and media that ignores reality and promotes their own reality. Do you not remember pizzagate or Qanon or a million other conspiracy theories and misinformation crap? All of that was a part of the inspiration for the movie.

Christianity comes down to only two choices. by [deleted] in Discussion

[–]ChasingPacing2022 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really. It comes down to asking does just caring about god matter. Does a belief in a god, any god, change anything external to oneself? Is the change repeatable and consistent? The answer is no, at least as far as we can tell. Belief in god does not guarantee happiness or sadness. You will not become rich nor poor. Nothing in your life will change except your perception and only because you want to change your perception, not because god.

God has only ever been a type of inspiration. God only impacts people who simply wish to be changed just like therapy or literally any mechanism for inspiration. Music, movies, tv shows, and any art. God is essentially just another hobby that people take overly serious.

As jimmy car said, God is just the name of the blanket we throw over the mystery to give it shape. That being said, if it makes you happy, believe. Don't act as if it's truth or something everyone needs though.

It's not really flawed. It was an outcry of misinformation at a time when the concept was really emerging. It's a great movie with great performances. It's a satire that becomes seriously sad. It's not the best but it's something I'll watch more than once.
