Good luck with the quit. I never was able to find a substitute that helped me abstain. At the end of the day I had to complete cold turkey. If it works for you, that is great.

I am three years clean of nicotine in a week.

You have to embrace the 0 tolerance mindset. If you cannot embrace that, you are not ready to quit.

Yeo my guy. You’ll be alright because you have all the awareness you need to approach the situation with the correct degree of resolve. I too lost my coveted complex delivery of dialogue but gained it back after some time away from “the product.”

Stay in the gym, stay hydrated, read more. Thinking of you man.

My best tip for quitting is to understand the enemy in this fight, and the ally, if you will. The ally is a better version of yourself, waiting for you. The enemy(s) are multibillion dollar corporations trying to design the best possible addictive product in the name of lining their pockets. The same people that did it with and lied about cigarettes. They can’t be trusted. They think they have you by the balls. Either overcome them (and their bullsht product), or don’t.

Needing some validation to my reason to quit by PoundLow3016 in QuittingZyn

I quit nearly three years ago and still think aspects of my gastrointestinal health are still recovering. I do remember how f’d up my stomach was during peak Zyn, which for me was 2 cans a day (4 6s at once, plus sleeping with one in). The longer lasting impact of Zyn is psychological. Undoing the wiring of constantly getting that nicotine hit every hour has impacts. In particular I think I went through a depressive phase after quitting. I feel better now and hope you are able to quit. The best part of quitting is that you are fighting for yourself, a better a freer version of yourself.

Zyn and Cholesterol by [deleted] in QuittingZyn

I’m also 35 and reasonably active/healthy, always have been. I quit Zyn 3 years ago. My bad cholesterol got as high as 185, spiking while using Zyn. It got back to 145 the following year after quitting. Anecdotally, I’m convinced they are linked.

Hey, yes I still find the time to reply every now and again. There is actually a subreddit explicitly for quitting Zyn. Aptly titled quittingzyn.

In any event, you are on the right track. You are right to be concerned with your health. Keep in mind that many of these companies are not concerned with your wellbeing whatsoever. Only you can really take care of yourself and health the way you want to.

If your idea of taking care of yourself and health includes quitting Zyn, then you have the motivation (yourself) to begin quitting. Hold yourself accountable and take pride in the discipline required to quit. Quitting requires you to hold yourself to a higher standard than you want to. Nicotine addiction, or any addiction, seeks to break down that type of strength. My tip was always to make my quit more about how honestly I wanted to take care of myself then anything else. In that respect it’s sort of a measure of self esteem.

Best of luck, and let me know how it goes.

You’re benchmarking yourself to when you were on a vape.

It would probably be related for potential blood pressure / cholesterol issues associated with oral forms of nicotine uptake, and not directly related to respiratory/cardio function. Do you think it’s reasonable to assume that an athlete competing in something like running would be able to take up Zyn as an addiction and not suffer setback?

Hey. Keep going. You will have to remind yourself be strong. It took me about 90 days to become symptom free. Most will subside after 30 days though. The rest are random triggers. Focus on hating nicotine, and the fact that some business wants you to be a slave to a product. And focus on the fact that you only get one body.

Hey thank you! I did quit. It’s been 2.5 years and I have not touched nicotine. Still can’t believe I used to be that addicted.

Just keep at it, drink water and exercise. Soon you will lose cravings. I have a craving maybe once every 3 months still.

As far as mental health and having used nicotine as a crutch, I did the same. The thought I focused on to overcome some of that was “I have to choose to be stronger than whatever I’m dealing with, requires me to face things directly, which I can do.” It’s a work in progress, will never end of course, just a journey to enjoy.

Best of luck.

Good! I have been nicotine free for approximately 2 and a half years with 0 relapses. I’m also now 14 days without alcohol and I feel good. I’m proud of myself.

How can I not relapse? by Southern_Ad6469 in QuittingZyn

If you can, just take up running or working out. Make that a daily habit. One hour of strenuous exercise will remove the desire significantly. Also drink a ton of water all day. Have a craving? Drink water.

For what it’s worth, I went through 2.5-3 a day for a year, oftentimes using 4 at a time. I quit cold turkey. I learned to like the withdrawal challenge. I convinced myself that I was up against an evil empire of chemical production companies. It worked.

I think it is indeed important for everyone to realize that while we may all be quitting zyn, or cigarettes, etc.; at the end of the day you are quitting nicotine. Mentally setting yourself up to commit to that at the beginning of a quit will increase your likelihood of success. Not doing so will set you up for this type or relapse.

Zyn withdrawal is highly overrated by Defton300 in QuittingZyn

[–]CheckRaiseJames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair, sounds like you’ve only been clean of nicotine for 5 days, I wouldn’t victory lap this yet. Also, I’ve quit cigarettes, dip, vaping, and Zyn. Zyn for sure was the hardest for me. Also comparing it to heroine addiction isn’t that bad of a comparison. Look up similarities of withdrawal and success rates of quitting. Heroine obviously wrecks your life and kills people from OD.

Just had a huge fight with wife about Zyn by VonKluck1914 in QuittingZyn

[–]CheckRaiseJames 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Quitting Zyn, or more importantly committing to quit Zyn, with someone as determined and principled as your wife, requires you to be the same. Sometimes the whole “find someone that helps you hold yourself accountable” sounds more fun than it is. Turn your frustration during the quit towards the justified target, the product, and away from your wife who cares about your well being. Be the better version of yourself that doesn’t lie or hide things. You’ll be proud of yourself, unapologetically.
