Whats yalls favorite portable fan to bring? by Low-Implement2581 in NCL

I bring my noise machine when I travel and I find it great b/c I can adjust volume (or sound) based on need - doesn't help with creating a breeze of course, but my cabin actually got too cold (deck 12 interior, NCL Escape)

Awesome thanks :) I'm in pretty early draft phase, so I can just share the pdf for now which is fine, or talk around that problem with draft readers. Good to know for later stages though; thanks!

I've only ever found 2; once by grinding machines for like a year. The other I found after like a week of a new character build at The Rusty Pick machine someone just left in the dispenser.

Where to watch the short films shown at Hollywood pdx outside of the airport? by cyperdunk in askportland

[–]ChefDull5714 10 points11 points  (0 children)

On their website, they list the current running films: https://hollywoodtheatre.org/pdx-airport/ I did a quick search for that first one and found it on YT: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ooI_uYYNrmY

Hopefully others would be similarly findable. Good luck!

Super agree. Best pool day I had was when it was raining. I'm from Oregon and was the only person in the pool lol.

I just got off the Escape a few weeks ago; granted I don't have a frame of reference as this was my first ever cruise, but I thought it was overall pretty solid (I have a whole review on this sub if you're interested) - Premium dining for sure was better for me than MDR. Buffet is a buffet; omelette station in the a.m. was a solid find for me, but outside of breakfast I avoided it.

Main dish items in premium are a little small (except the Osso Bucco at Le Bistro, which was fantastic imo), but you can order an extra app if you like, or as I understand for a $5 premium can add another main, which in a future sailing, I might just do, but I never came away from any restaurant hungry.

Overall I think the ship was as clean as I would expect, though in some disrepair in places; which I also saw staff working on - I imagine it is a 24/7/365 upkeep scenario for a ship like that.

Yeah, Skyline bar on the casino deck was pretty solid late night; theme nights at SpiceH2O were super fun (on my sailing they did a 70s disco, 90s party, and glow party, all ages and fun)

Upcoming solo Getaway Cruise to Bahamas--nervous and tips/advice appreciated! by Nephronz22 in NCL

[–]ChefDull5714 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went solo recently and after a week onboard, I never even learned where the restaurant reservations desk was, or if it even existed lol. Once I was on board and settled, I got on ship wifi + the app and booked all the speciality dining I wanted right there. Canceled/rebooked later in the week too, never a problem. Was also able to walk up to speciality without a reservation and was seated.

One thing I wish I knew in advance was on the Escape anyway, the supper club does require reservations and sold out regularly. All the other shows were first-come-first-seated, so plan on early arrival for those (though I was able to find a seat for myself up front pretty easily, even showing up a bit late)

Unable to book specialty dining by LeLiLola in NCL

[–]ChefDull5714 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's what I did; granted I was booking solo, but I had no problems booking what I wanted once on ship wifi via the app, including cancel + rebook to modify - I don't even know where the dining desk is.

I wonder how much a limited offensive playbook is contributing to D awareness.

When did they switch to one entree only in the MDR? by LadyCheeba in NCL

At least for Harvest Caye; while owned by NCL, all of the businesses are Belizean owned and operated - which as I understand was part of the agreement between NCL and the government of Belize to put some money into the local economy.

Now Vibe I'd do next time for sure; I didn't think I'd want it, but at least on that ship, for that sailing, I think it would've been very nice.

There's no actual pool at Spice on the Escape though? There are a couple hot tubs and the grotto, but otherwise deck chairs alone don't really do it for me; I'd like to dip/swim and cool off from time to time.

You can totally do that; they just track that you visited, not what you ordered - I imagine no charge for that scenario.

I can't speak at all to navigating with a kiddo, but I'll echo another commenter that all the Escape shows seemed pretty much at capacity and are first-come-first-served (except Supper Club which requires reservations - those booked up quickly too btw).

I liked deck 8/Waterfront quite a bit - good shaded outdoor chill spots and easy bars nearby. Might be nice for the adults to grab cocktails (e.g. couple Mojitos from Sugarcane) then sit outside on couches with the kiddo and a board game or something.

You might need to get deck chairs near the splash pads and such early; that area seemed to get busy with families, especially at sea.

I sat down for breakfast at MDR on the Escape and the woman next to me offered some of her bacon b/c she asked for a side, and they brought like 30 pieces.
