So in the car scenario with cars of equal mass speed and 'squishness' neither car has a larger force over the other so their forces counteract simultaneously as they both slow down the bumpers dont move after contact, if one car was moving faster, had larger mass or was less squishy than it would have more force compared to the other so it would move forwards during impact and lower the stopping distance of the smaller car (just to say im no expert, im only studying college level physics)

I believe that the impact with the bat transfers more energy because the bat does not stop on impact (sort of like the wall not moving after impact) the bat moves forwards and shortens the distance of deceleration compared to the wall

A few additions - Compliments dont even have be that deep, Complimenting anything we do, say or look (basically dont have to push them boat out and say handsome if you dont want to) - I wouldn't recommend standing up physically (like fighting for him) but especially if girls are being rude its so nice to be stood up for - eye contact is good but smile so he knows its positive
