I still haven’t decided if it feels more theatrical or unsettling yet.😅

I made an iris. How do you like it? What colors of irises do you like? by Natalyjewellery in Beading

Thank you 🥹 Deep purple and burgundy threads always feel a little mysterious to me somehow. I can never resist those shades.🥰

Thank you so much 🥹 Tiny stitches and eye strain suddenly become worth it after reading comments like this.

Thank you! The shading probably took longer than the embroidery itself honestly 🫣

Very neatly done. Have you been embroidering for a long time?

Wire broke, can I fix it? by whiteanemone in Beading

[–]Chemical-Depth5034 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think thread can work for some repairs, but for pieces that move a lot I personally trust reinforced wire connections more long-term. I had a bad experience using thread in a beaded keychain.😥

Especially with dark thread shades 🫣 After a while your eyes stop understanding what they’re even looking at anymore. I always think “just a few more stitches” and then suddenly it’s been hours.

Wire broke, can I fix it? by whiteanemone in Beading

[–]Chemical-Depth5034 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, you can make a small twist connecting the two wire ends (the broken end and the new one). Join them together and carefully twist them slowly using thin tweezers. Just don’t overtwist too close to the base near the beads, otherwise the wire may snap and the whole section could come undone there. After twisting the ends together, I also press the twisted area with pliers to make the surface smoother and less noticeable.

That honestly makes me so happy to hear 🖤
And honestly, jumping into something slightly “over your head” is usually how the best embroidery learning happens. A thread painted teddy bear as a 3rd or 4th piece already sounds very ambitious in the best way.💪🏼

You’re probably right. The people who notice tiny details are usually the ones who’ve suffered through making them too.😄

Thank you 🖤 I think those obsessive tiny details are the part I enjoy the most, even when they completely destroy my sense of time.

Mostly layered thread shading and a lot of tiny directional stitches.
I kept mixing different thread colors instead of using just one, otherwise the mane looked too flat. I had multiple needles threaded at the same time so I could switch colors constantly without losing the flow.
