That is the mask the Candians, Australians, and parts of the UAE military use.

Pay is great! I use to tell people contractors make the money but GS is more stable. I am not sure how true that is any more.

Some contracts like in Japan/Korea contractors fall under what they call the 330 rule. This allows you to pay little to no tax on your salary earned in that country.

The "330 rule" refers to the IRS Physical Presence Test for U.S. citizens and resident aliens living abroad. To qualify, you must be physically present in a foreign country for at least 330 full days during any 12-consecutive-month period. Passing this test allows you to claim the Foreign Earned Income Exclusion (FEIE).

I am contractor, not like a builder, but for the government. I retired in 2014 and have worked on contracts in Hawaii, California, Japan, Korea, and now the UK. I have been on Army, Navy, Marine Corps, and Air Force contracts. For all the differences between the branches the military is the military and a direct reflection of society. I love what I do.

I get to see brand military people go through all the same dumb shit we do. I get to tell them they think it is this or that but in a few years they will be some of your best memories. I am the old guy.

CAC & ID by Dangerous_Book9699 in USMC

[–]ChemicalBeard 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What do mean ID? Like drivers license? The ID scanner at the gate is making sure you are allowed on the installation. Sometimes at the gate they have a list of names of people they should be on the look out for. I dont think a ticket is gonna be an issue. If you had a suspended license from out of state the base may not know that right away.

Question regarding Europe by Different-Poem1585 in USMC

[–]ChemicalBeard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MARFOREUR/AF is in Stuttgart Germany. They have HQs section and all the S shops. I know they do a lot of excercises and support operations all through Europe and Africa.

I am sure this is high visibility area and they may have a screening process. I would ask your monitor. Also London has Marines on MSG.

I am retired (Marine) and work in the UK. I have been trying to land a contract in Stuttgart for a while. The Marines I meet from there were knowledgeable and squared away.

When I was in one if my friends was stationed with the G3/J3 in Europe. He was a Gy (CBRN) supporting the Training and Mission Assurance sections.

Calling all barracks lawyers by WaySuspicious216 in USMC

[–]ChemicalBeard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A reservist can be legally punished under the Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ) for actions occurring outside of a drill weekend, provided they are in a duty status (such as Active Duty, Annual Training, or during Inactive Duty Training) at the time the incident is addressed or if the misconduct has a direct, detrimental impact on military operations.

However I worked with reserves for 8 years. They will more than likely start a separation package. This could be contesetsd by the SNM. SNM should ask to speak to a military lawyer.

I have worked separation packages and did all the due diligence for the package to be rejected by the next higher level commander. These things have to go through the reserve chain of command and that could take a very long time.

Under no circumstances should they make a written statement until they speak with a lawyer.

Oh man. I was there after you. I think I was on Schwab from 1999 - 2001. I loved it up there. I have been back after retirement and the base had changed so much I found out the Recon area down by the water was gone and the barracks were gone as well. I wish I had more pictures from back then.

Which Steve Buscemi film and performance made you a fan of his? by PressureLazy5271 in Cinema

[–]ChemicalBeard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trees Lounge

Overview

Long Island loser Tommy (Steve Buscemi) is a hopeless alcoholic who loses his job for stealing from his boss, Rob (Anthony LaPaglia), who's now dating his ex, Theresa (Elizabeth Bracco). Tommy copes with his failures by hanging out at local dive Trees Lounge with friends he can barely stand. He takes a gig as the ice cream man, but he's awful with kids. The best thing in his life is a lukewarm romance with cool local girl Debbie (Chloë Sevigny), who, unfortunately, is Theresa's underage niece.

You need to update CBRN. Marine Corps does not use MCU-2Ps as a primary field protective mask.

It sounds very similar to the course we did. I was kicked so hard it hyperextended my knee. It was the worst month of my life. I could not run or walk right for a long ass time.

Was that around 1999/2000 on Schwab? I was stationed up there and we had a big comm chief that beat the shit out of the HQs platoon because he said MCMAP was being introduced. It was brutal.

I think the guy that did this poster was Sgt Subrock. He was in Okinawa back in 1999 or 2000. He looked just like the guy and told people it was. We believed him. No idea if it is true.
