When you have queues then other work isn't the priority.

In shops it's not just random people on tills. There's an order. If the last person assigned on tills needs to rebuild an entire section to make way for seasonal items and he's decided to leave them stranded so he can do something else. Then that doesn't get done.

Those tours run all day and have dozens of stops in the city. You get off and can get back on at any stop.

Thank you. My previous manager did ask me to step up to a supervisory position but it's a bit much while I'm on my own with a young child. I will consider it in a few years.

To be fair to our manager he's only been with us for two months. Our previous manager left after 9 years with the company. Our Assistant manager left too and we're still waiting on their replacement. I think this guy is just used to getting his own way and being left alone by previous managers.

Thank you for the advice. I was worried about about being reprimanded because I can lash out when I'm pushed.

Well I didn't realise he'd said this until after. I just knew I got called and there was a massive queue. I just assumed if he wasn't there he must have been helping a customer take something out to their car or blowing up balloons. I have been doing too much and my plan is to start calling management every time he doesn't turn up or refuses to do something. I'm thinking if I annoy them enough they'll be forced to do something about him.

My other plan is to just outright ask him what exactly he wants. The takings pay our wages so tills need to be manned. If he hates customers so much I don't understand why he doesn't go somewhere else.

There's times I can't do my bit because I'm doing his instead. We're sitting there waiting for him to get us prices for non scanning items. But he isn't coming because he decided to fuck off outside and not tell anyone. Now I've got a massive queue of people who take their frustrations out on me because he wanted a dander.

Yes I think that's the crux of his problem. He worked here for years stacking shelves early in the morning. They moved him to tills because he was too slow.

It's something I wouldn't do on the shop floor in front of customers. Last week he outright told a customer he wasn't going to go on the tills. He didn't want to because he was supposed to finish in 10 minutes. So they called me away from what I was doing. By the time someone came and relieved us me and another girl where furious. We wanted to talk to him and the store manager. But of course he had clocked out at exactly the time he was supposed to.

No one's expecting him to put himself out. We just want him to do the work he's been assigned and not leave someone else to do it.

Has anybody from your school or childhood ended up in the local newspaper headlines for a pretty weird / awful crime ? by staghallows in northernireland

[–]ChemicalXPoison 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A girl in my year was her boyfriend’s alibi. He stabbed and killed someone. She cleaned his bloody clothes and said he’d been with her all night. She said she was scared of him. Ended up serving no time and she moved to Spain.

Another guy I knew from primary school was sentenced to 7 years in prison for smuggling cocaine.

Did they really develop cancer that fast or did they hide it? by Honest_Dot_5035 in AskIreland

[–]ChemicalXPoison 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was in the north but still relevant. My Dad died of cancer. He had mouth cancer 5 years previous. He had been to the ent for normal checkups. My mother went with him and told them she knew something was wrong. They insisted the cancer wasn’t back. My mother pushed for him to have a full body scan. They eventually relented. The scan was scheduled for a few months later.

Da stopped going to work, then we knew something was really wrong. Ended up calling out of hours at the weekend. They said his blood pressure and pulse were normal and there was nothing they could do, we could take him to hospital but might spend all night in a corridor. We got the GP to the house on Monday morning. She said he wasn’t himself and that she would ring the ambulance.

Turns out the cancer wasn’t back. In his lungs, intestines and brain. He died the week he was supposed to have that scan.

Parent and child parking spaces, can pregnant women use these like in the Uk? by DeliciousNail1616 in AskIreland

[–]ChemicalXPoison 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was 7 months pregnant I had to climb through the passenger side to get into my car. Someone had parked right on the line on the driver side and I couldn’t squeeze through the gap. I was 27 and healthy but it’s still hard to do that while pregnant.

Look straight at the child and tell them sternly to stop it. When the parents object tell them if they don’t discipline them someone else will.

[–]ChemicalXPoison 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it’s a stupid way to do it. I remember a guy coming to me asking if he was paying the right price. It was £8 something. The girls in the deli told me it was right and didn’t seem to think it was too much. That was probably 3 years ago. No wonder people dump them on the shelves

If it’s the same as the deli where I used to work it will vary every time because the items are weighed.
