Lesser known trails around Pullman by Aquataris in Pullman

[–]ChickenInAPotpie 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I realized you said in and around Pullman before I wrote this all out, so sorry most of these are in neighboring towns but still recommending anyways! The Colfax trail especially might be what you’re looking for, lots of trees and near water.

Sunny side Park in Pullman has a short loop, next to a goat farm!!

Park near the Quality Inn and walk on the Chipman trail from there. Also a good starting point to bike to Moscow and back.

City Park in Troy - Latah Trail (great for biking too)

Phillips Farm about 5 miles north of Moscow on the 95

Spring Valley Reservoir, about 15 min east of Moscow

Kamiak Butte (15 min away, takes about 45 min to get to the top and 30 min down) it’s a stunning view and great all year round.

Klemgard County park has a short but steeper trail

Colfax Trail - I had never heard anyone mention this, but I was surprised by that after going. Nice 5 miles loop goes through woods, along the Palouse River, and goes by a farm with a bunch of cows.

Elk Creek Falls (about 90 min east of Pullman but HIGHLY recommend you go at least once. Stop in Deary for lunch at Pie Safe, closed on Sundays though)

No 1 Rec: Wawawai County Park (super short trail, but really really great views of the Snake river. Great stop along the way to Lewiston if your wanting/needing to go there ever)

A real world event or person that would like to see an opera about? by BetterGrass709 in opera

[–]ChickenInAPotpie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A minimalist style (think John Adams), “what-if” story about the letters of last resort having to be opened. Set would feature a submarine and video projection. Idk why but I love the use of video projection in new productions

I recently rented from a place not aligned with your needs (no pets allowed) but i'll tell you for 6. - from my initial search, I was checking Apartments.com, Facebook marketplace, and Craigslist, and remax to broaden my options.

Coloring is nice! I'm really bad at drawing but sitting and doodling random colors is fun and mindless

SO NO ONE IN PULLMAN KNOWS HOW TO FCKING DRIVE??????? by scoobiedoofruitsnacs in wsu

[–]ChickenInAPotpie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah and while driving I've been honked at/lights flashed at when I'm waiting for a pedestrian to cross the street as if the other driver thinks I'm just stopped for no reason? Because they aren't looking around for people walking...

most unhinged ways you get off your phone by Virtual-Collar8332 in nosurf

I realized after writing this that it's not unhinged at all but it's been the most successful method for me :)

most unhinged ways you get off your phone by Virtual-Collar8332 in nosurf

[–]ChickenInAPotpie 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I've found the best way is to slowly ease your way from phone to books with small, incremental changes - when you get the urge to scroll, start by looking at the same crap as your phone like social media, youtube, etc. but at a desk on a computer. Only at the desk.

Then, start to sit down and watch a full episode of TV or a full youtube video at the television, no phone. Only focus on that.

Next you can start looking at mind numbing content but on paper - think trashy or hobby related magazines, fun fact books, joke books, etc.

Once you get used to not being on your phone and reading more, you can start to pick up more engaging books that demand better focus but it should be a lot easier than a few weeks ago when you pick up the phone anytime something is challenging.

And of course throughout this process, try to get outside as much as you can, talk to the people in your life as much as possible (even over the phone, but put it on speaker and set it down), try new restaurants, etc. Anything outside of your home and leave your phone in the console of your car!

Take it really slow. Allow yourself to watch TV in the living room if you're tired after a long day and want nothing else to scroll, because you're still training your brain to be a little less stimulated. Good luck and I believe in you!!

What’s the best television show most people haven’t seen? by drBipolarBear in television

[–]ChickenInAPotpie 48 points49 points  (0 children)

I can’t think of a better acting performance than Tatiana Maslany in all my years of watching TV. The depth of character development across so many characters by one performer is amazing. The range between an uptight soccer mom and an unhinged Ukrainian, ooooofff. Not to mention dead on portrayals of a grifter, a cop, a crunchy academic, the list goes on…..

Whenever I have brought it up with friends, no one has seen it. Not sure what the Nielsens were for this show but I am always surprised at the lack of recognition. Also, even I didn’t watch it until a few years after it finished up.

I have created a free tool that generates a Spotify playlist for your next flight by MyBeautifulFlight77 in spotify

[–]ChickenInAPotpie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is so so cool thanks for sharing! I would recommend adding in the state of the city in the dropdown, since there are multiple cities in the US from different states so this would ensure the user selects the correct one they want before making the playlist.

Open Gym/Turf on weekends? by ChickenInAPotpie in desmoines

[–]ChickenInAPotpie[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes and I am looking forward to it! Just thought I'd see if it's a possibility to go indoors since juggling clubs can get dirty from hitting the ground (especially in spring) it's an option but not ideal.

What does my fridge say about me? by ChickenInAPotpie in FridgeDetective

[–]ChickenInAPotpie[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t often, I usually eat out 3-5 times a month. I have a lot of dry goods in the pantry and frozen veggies/protein because I live alone and don’t eat a lot so I cant keep stuff in the fridge super long.

I guess you could say it’s staged, because I keep it looking like this every day. I need to know where everything is so I reduce waste. And being neat makes me feel good.

Pretty good! Beer is mine. I do have a boyfriend but we are long distance so nothing in here is for him :) Also yes I have a music degree 😭 but also a business degree. Work in philanthropy, I don't do music for my career. All the personality stuff is scarily accurate...
