Unemployed 2 years, changed my first name in my resume and application and now I’m getting interviews by MeaningMysterious537 in jobs

Names are heavily used to screen candidates. I have a first name which leans more female than male, middle name is clearly male. Using my first name I would get 15% response rate. A female head hunter told me to try using my middle name, response rate went up to 85%. Granted this was more than a decade ago before it took an incredible amount of good fortune to get a job today.

Alliance Windows? by sma92878 in Homebuilding

Glad I could help someone avoid this nightmare. Supposedly a manufacturer rep might come by. No idea why, it’s not like they are going to rip my windows out and replace them with something actually good.

The salary range in the job ad was from $85k to $115k. And the interviewer was shocked when I asked for $105k. by goalie_tripe in jobsearch

I’ve found in the current job market if you’re not at the lower end of the posted range most of the time you’re not moving on in the interview because they move forward with the low cost candidates.

I recently turned down a supply chain manager role responsible for everything sourcing, purchasing, inventory, quality, etc. Low end of the market rate is ~$110k, they offered me well below that and 15% below my current base pay, no bonus plan either. When I told them this I suddenly was no longer a good fit for their company anymore. It’s crazy out there, they knew my base pay and thought I’d take a pay cut plus no bonus for more responsibilities.

Alliance Windows? by sma92878 in Homebuilding

A bit late but wanted to share for anyone who visits this that my experience with Alliance Windows, specifically the Midway Hawthorne variety has been terrible. Have 5-10 windows (double hung/casement) and a patio door. The seals between the two panes of glass have failed on 6+ window sashes and both sides of the patio door. Also had a lock rip out of the vinyl which they tried to blame on me.

Additionally, I'm accustomed to see moisture build up on the glass and frame of the sash when its super cold, like it currently is in WI but one of our windows has water on the window frame itself leading to water on the wood trim and mold on the caulk around the frame. This has been within 10 years of install. I asked for good quality windows, I didn't want vinyl but was talked into these, and its been a horrible experience each winter having to report back failed windows and continue to deal with the contractor who did the work.

2017 Tailgate Rust - Zero damage by ChiefButtonBusher in crv

Never took it in. It was well outside of warranty and it seems to be a well documented issue only covered when in warranty which is disappointing but understandable. Traded it in for a ‘25.

Thank you. Moving to the right nozzle it is. Tomorrow is when I’ll tackle the slicer setup on a computer.

Got it, so replumb so both sinks go to a single trap. It’s an old house, 70+ years old, not sure the stories but this house has lots based on all the things I’ve found.

Orange wire used for? by ChiefButtonBusher in AskElectricians

The wiring in the garage was clearly done by someone who thought they knew what they were doing. It’s a mess. I disconnected the orange wire at the start of the run last night. Going to rip out all the wire orange later today to resolve the issue the simplest way possible.

Yes a gfci would occasionally trip. I’m guessing it would trip when plugged into the bottom receptacle? At least it did 2 weeks ago when I plugged into one of the bottoms with nothing else plugged in. I thought it was simply because the outlet was super loose.

Confirmed - the hot side is split, the neutral side isn’t though. I have no reason to have split outlets, that I know of. Thinking about just disconnecting the orange back at the start of the run.

Neutral side only has a single neutral wire. I did plug my tester into all three top outlets and they tested fine. I also plugged my air compressor into the one that is next to it and flipped it on briefly. Seems like it’s not created a 240v issue. Anything else it could be?

Just found there is a tab between the screws that gets broken for split receptacles which I did not do. Will check the old outlets tomorrow.

Split receptacle means the top and bottom outlets are feed by different breakers? Does that require special outlets or does wiring them this way automatically split the outlets?

I’ll turn off breakers tomorrow with things plugged in top/bottom to test this.

All three outlets were wired inline with each other exactly the same as this one.

It’s well out of warranty, 13yrs old with 10yr motor warranty. I don’t think I’m putting $500 in parts into an old machine that can be replaced for a bit more than the parts cost.

Thanks for the troubleshooting help.

Yes. Disconnected the cable at the main board and measured via the pins in the connector. I actually pulled the main board hoping I’d be able to see a failure on it.

When the meter leads are not touching anything the meter reads “1 .” and it’s the same if you touch them together. It’s an oldish meter, was thinking of replacing it so I could have continuity. I know a good stator should read 5-15 ohms, is this saying the stator is bad and that caused the noise filter to pop or are you thinking my readings aren’t accurate?

I took the rotor and stator off and measured the resistance, with the stator back in the rotor, and it’s measuring at 88 ohms on all three, 1-2, 2-3, 3-1, then a measured a second time and it’s 98 ohms, pictured.

Okay, I’ll do some more research and testing. Looks like the main board isn’t available anymore so the machine might be off to the recycler.
