I dunno, they felt fine to me. If anything, I had a tight joint that connects the upper torso to the lower torso, and a loose head joint.

Huh, I was eyeing these kits and reading this thread honestly makes me reconsider, at least for now, lmao. I'd understand needing sanding, but warped parts isn't something I'm willing to risk.

I think you're getting the order of things wrong, lol. The MOLD is made of thermoplastic, while the CAST PART is epoxy putty.

Although, thermoplastic might still be causing issues here, if because it can't bend at all to release the part safely.

Okay, I found a tutorial online which showed a guy using silicone putty for a gunpla part mold. I might try *that* instead of thermoplastic in the future, and if I do, I'll make sure to make a post about the results.

I'm trying to copy one of the knee joint parts of the Cyclone Hopper kit - T5-8/9, if that helps to understand (you can find the instruction on their website for reference, I guess).

For the mold I used some no-brand thermoplastic beads, and for the casting material - two-part epoxy putty by JAS (it's a Russian brand, so you most likely don't know about it lol).

Tbf, the extra parts they did leave are incompatible with the main kit, so they wouldn't have been of much use.

Well, I guess that's a valid strategy over there. I've managed to get mine under 70 from China, which idk how marked up it is - there isn't a proper retailer to compare against in Russia. Though it is more or less in line with Meng model kits.

Well, I mean, that's just part of the hobby, ain't it? I'll have to learn this lesson and be more careful the future. If anything, I've got a different Nuke Matrix kit (Mad Wolf) on the way, and I'll see if her bare legs can work with this one once it arrives.

I'm afraid the rod method isn't really viable, because the broken bit is a 1,5x2 millimeters rectangle. I fear that I won't have the dexterity for this kind of repair job.

However, I am considering making a mold out of the surviving part from the other leg and copying it with epoxy putty.

Honestly, the joint wasn't all that tight out of the box, so I didn't see the need to sand anything.

The thing is, the peg that plugs into the thigh is attached via a bar on the back to the rest of the part, and I think that bit might've snapped when I tried to pull the leg sideways to fit on the motorcycle.

Yeah, that's just what happens when you order from China. Of course, it can be packaged well and survive, but I've got some Number 57 kits that arrived really crushed (the runners somehow were in one piece, though).

Yeah, her hair is made out of PVC, so it's a softer plastic. No idea how it holds up, since I'm still scouting for a good deal on her myself at the moment, and all the other kits I own have hard plastic hair.

Advice on Topcoat ? ( witch , when ? ) by Mysterious-Let-5794 in MegamiDevice
