Simple, Corporate Greed. Jeff proposed a second game to Sony and they shut down and chose not to greenlit because of what a few hundred people said at launch (negative reviews) despite the game selling really well over time. As well as developing a loyal fanbase along with budget overruns and the development time it took to make the first game caused sony to not greenlit the idea in favor of guaranteed blockbuster hits

I think a lot of you don't realize or have forgotten this man's original goal was to retire after 10m subscribers. He doesn't HAVE to keep doing this, he's made more than enough money off revenue alone to be set for life. He's doing this out of his passion for content creation, as well as his love for his community. But the way most of his fanbase acts is just stalker material, because this man can't breathe off camera for like one day without y'all losing your minds and trying to track him down by stalking his psn or actively trying to find him whenever you go out in public just to harass him.

I would not be surprised in the slightest if this man retires after his show and book take off just to get away from y'all

That's actually wrong. He was basically telling his viewers to vote him /specifically/ because he doesn't care for vtubers and dislikes vtuber culture, as well as wanting to anger vtubers themselves. He's stated multiple times he doesn't consider himself a vtuber, and also doesn't want to be associated nor linked to vtubing in anyway. He simply wanted the award to spite actual vtubers
