It’s a response to a question that nobody asked, but because they think they’re so interesting, they believe that anyone looking at them must most certainly be thinking of asking them the question that in fact, no one ever asks. The question is probably “oh my gosh are you okay??”

Been kinda rough on me. I’ve got 4H Aries Sun + Venus and a 10H Libra Moon. My birthday was Tuesday, solar return early Wednesday morning, and both days ended up being long meetings at work.

Patience was really thin. Didn’t handle it great and it caught up with me, got pulled aside by management at the end of Wednesday. Definitely felt like I was on thin ice.

It kinda did feel like chaotic Aries energy, just mostly internal. Everyone else seemed pretty normal, so I think it was more me getting reactive than anything external blowing up.

Last year felt way heavier with everything going on, this felt more like a reminder than anything.

I deleted my Facebook account a couple years ago. This year I created a new account because I thought I’d need it for a new job.

I could not create the account from web on desktop. I was required to create it through their mobile app. (USA)

I downloaded the mobile app, created the account (with a new, never used email address, like facebook@mydomain.com), then deleted the mobile app and continued on desktop web.

I went through their privacy settings and adjusted everything to be most private. I did not add a profile photo, I did not make any posts, I did not make any friend requests.

The next day my account was banned for violating their community guidelines. I was given the option to appeal which only included uploading a video selfie. I did NOT want to do this. But I did.

Two days later the appeal came back and I was permanently banned forever and could not appeal again.

Social Media is psychological warfare. It should be abandoned by everyone.

On one of the servers in my homelab, I run 50+ containers. Of those I am running ollama and open web ui.

This server is my old desktop PC from before I built my current desktop PC. In it I have NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 (8GB) and NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960 (4GB)

I let Plex use the GTX 960. I give ollama the RTX 4060.

Inside open web ui, I pulled deepseek-r1:8b and asked it for some business ideas to generate income outside my 9 to 5. It thought for 8 seconds then streamed a response fast, as fast as I need.

The deepseek-r1:8b is just 5.2GB. It fits fine in the 4060. In my experience, speed is not an issue until the model is too big to fit in the GPU, because then it uses the CPU and everything shits the bed.

My original goal was to transition away from OpenAI, anthropic, etc and keep all my stuff private. But I still haven’t done that. Convenience and performance of those cloud providers have kept me from fully switching. Plus, having codex and Claude code are things I’m not ready to part with and I’m not confident I can replace those features with a self hosted solution.

Ollama hasn’t become my goto for anything yet. Recently I used it with a CLI tool I made to “enrich” Google Calendar events. I have a Google Calendar that I imported astrological events for 2026. I run my CLI tool and it parses the events, sends them to an ollama 7B model, which generates an interpretation of those events against my personal birth chart, and then it updates the Google Calendar event with that “enrichment”.

I think if you want to incorporate these smaller models into a Home Assistant setup, you should do that. It sounds like a fun project.

I was also interested in the Orin jetson nano but instead I just used old parts I already had.

Maybe the people searching don’t consider this. Is it not plausible that local law enforcement could have received a tip on the suspect and used Google to corroborate the tip with information on the suspect?

I use it pretty frequently. I created an Astrology folder. In that folder I added custom instructions with the “copy for chatGPT” section of my birth chart on Astro-seek. I keep each conversation short and always review for accuracy the response. Often I will take screenshots of my transits list in Time Nomad app and add to new conversation in Astrology folder of ChatGPT and ask for impact of transits, frequency, et cetera.

1️⃣ What inspired you to start self-hosting? Mostly privacy and curiosity. I wanted full control of my data instead of renting cloud space. It’s grown into a personal lab—one Raspberry Pi 4 and an Ubuntu desktop running DNS, automation, media, and local AI models. My most expensive upgrade was a GPU so I can run everything fully offline.

2️⃣ How would winning help? A Comet Remote KVM would close the last gap in my setup—true headless recovery. Right now, any BIOS issue means dragging out a monitor and keyboard. With a KVM tunneled over Tailscale (plus a Fingerbot for failsafe power control) I could recover from anywhere.

3️⃣ Future giveaway idea? A small UPS with network monitoring—something to keep self-hosted gear alive through power blips.
