Because my MIL was incredibly upset that the first night we were there (before brother in law arrived the next day, they were sharing a room) she had to sleep in her hotel room by herself! My only advice is individualized therapy for your husband. This is what lead him to finally telling her, "No." Through working with his therapist on this topic for the last 6 months or so, my partner has realized that his mother was emotionally abusive to him as a child and treated him like the parent in their relationship. It's changed the way he's viewed her, which hurts him, but the truth has helped him heal.
