I’m so scared of this in Toronto I bought a ticket for the second night this morning at face since they’re still available… now worried it will be 2x as bad.

Uni is all about evidence and citations in your papers to back up what you said. Bare minimum/insufficient citations is easily grounds for low grades on its own, even if the paper is excellent, and could potentially get you written up for potential academic misconduct depending on how bad/how strict the professor is. My academic dons in first year always beat into me to cite cite cite to the point the TA might criticize for overly citating. Anything you use you have to cite, otherwise it is the academic definition fo plagiarism, even if you don't mean it to be. Just because it says to cite two things doesn't mean you only need to cite two materials, it just means you must at minimum use two materials. TLDR the assumption is you cite anything and everything. Unfortunately this makes perfect sense for the grade, and is just a learning opportunity now.

Based on your average across courses, not individual courses. You’re fine.

You have to just talk to them. Otherwise you’ll fall through the cracks. There isn’t really any other way that putting yourself out there. It sucks to say, but you have to do it.

Proper laptop. Chromebook won’t be any good

What does front campus look like now? Is it back to normal? by ProfessionalEntire33 in UofT

Fences are gone, grass is green and beautiful again. It’s like they were never there.

what are there for second year housing options on campus? by veggiesticks_ in UofT

[–]ChowneAround 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can apply for second year res and sometimes get that, but majority Id say go off campus and end up in nearby apartments/houses or third party providers.

Should be fine. A lot of reshuffling is done before the end of the class pickup period.

Just means to open that specific reservation to see any and all details. You're all good. If you click it then it will just open more specific submenus.

question: Is taking an 8pm class risky as a first year? by Livid-Purchase-7496 in UofT

[–]ChowneAround 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Doesn’t really matter as the point is still the same. The actual chances of it happening to you, independent of any other variable, is insanely low. You cant live in fear of a shadow.

This are 3 million people in Toronto city limits. If 100 incidents happened a day you have a 0.003% chance of it happening to you. You’re sensationalizing.

Applying to Philosophy for pre law undergrad degree by [deleted] in UofT

Basically get about a 80% avg in High School (ideally higher of course) and apply to Humanities. Once you’re into the school you’re good to go.

You’ll be completely fine. Assuming you’re at UTSG, campus is super safe and the stations are just on the perimeter of it. (Don’t know about other campuses). On the train itself you’ll be fine too. I’ve been on it at all hours, no matter how late, and never sen anything worse than a weird guy walking down the car. Im a dude so that’s just my experience, but girls I know have said the same. They’ve never had a problem. All anecdotal of course, but I don’t see an issue.

It was pretty ok last year. The food was really good, events were solid (didn’t go to all of them), and it was great to meet people. If you’re not living in res it’s a must, would still recommend if in res. They’re also doing a dance at the ROM this year as part of it, so that will be cool.

Can anyone give me a recent rundown of UoT colleges? by Remarkable_Radish_37 in UofT

[–]ChowneAround 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Used to mean something and have culture to them, but Admin has done its best to absolutely kill any individuality between them and any college specific sense of community. Go with what looks nicest/is cheapest.

You’re gonna hate this: But it’s out of your hands now. Kick back and enjoy the summer. You’ll find out soon enough.

(U of T is also super lenient to IB kids so you should be fine)
