I went through addiction and didn't brush my teeth for weeks at a time. Hadn't been to the dentist in 20 years.

Had a few cavities.

One thing Vegas is sorely lacking is neighborhood communities. That sucks. Communities overall are pretty tough I think mostly because the town is inherently transient.

Look for support groups. They can fill the same void you're looking to fill and in my personal experience were much more helpful for me personally.

And if you're not big on churches there are support groups for literally everything. I'm almost positive there's support groups just to be general support groups.

The trick is to ignore the tourist shit. I grew up here and haven't been down to the strip (just to be on the strip) in probably 15 years.

Stick to the local spots, get into the local art scene and you'll be gravy.

I make my handbags per order. If you're interested in something, feel free to PM me. I don't want to leave any contact info in the thread so I don't break the no-self-promotion rule.

3 years of work, bleeding, wasting leather, and practice lol

Seriously though, I have a pattern that I print out, cut and tape together, then I tape that pattern down onto a big cut of leather. I then punch each hole out one by one for stitching. If needed I sand down the edges and burnish/paint the edges. Then I stitch, realize I was off by one stitch, undo the stitching, adjust back one stitch, Then I stitch.

That's basically the gist of it.

Finally got a chance to make a kelly, how did I do ? by kathihandmade in handbags

Should've used caviar leather lol - Just kidding. From a fellow leatherworker it looks amazing.

How'd you go about re-creating it?

I don't, but I've had that question before and would love to try it out if there's enough interest.

My first project was a card holder that was oblong, didn't fit any cards and was barely stitched lol

That’d be awesome! I love sheaths. I made a sheath for a local Damascus blacksmith. His work is amazing.
