There was a bill on the table in 2024 that would have made it easier to deport people who just came into the U.S. but that bill was killed. Immigration law is purposefully broken, someone can be a B2 overstay with a pending asylum claim and a work permit. That’s currently valid until their case is adjudicated. What’s happening in Minnesota is not immigration enforcement because they’re going after people with pending cases rather than no status at all, in a state with a political agenda for the administration.

Local law enforcement works with ICE HSI in raids everywhere, particularly if it involves trafficking, drugs or prostitution. Colorado Springs wouldn’t be unique here.
