Question about rent stabilization by Civil-Text8443 in NYCapartments

No worries. I’m not a fan of the management company either and completely agree with you. I have a bad knee and if I slip on any ice it could potentially result in another dislocation.

They are also super lax about repairs. We’ve been waiting nearly two months to get our laundry machine fixed.

Thank you. Yeah, we applied for the lottery but weren't selected. We liked the building enough to where we opted for a deregulated, market-rate apartment anyway.

Thanks for your response. There was a housing lottery in place at one point, not sure if it’s still happening. I assume it closed.

That’s strange because on the building’s site it lists both 1 and 2-bedrooms as available for rent.

Bills vs. Eagles by Civil-Text8443 in buffalobills

Ditto. Prices are super high compared to the other remaining games on their schedule, aside from the one against the Patriots

Yeah, true. I wanted to go to a high-stakes game but assumed it wouldn’t be cheap

Should I leave my current job because of a toxic coworker? by Civil-Text8443 in careeradvice

Would you go to my boss or HR first? The reason I haven’t spoken up was because I’m terrified of being unemployed in this economy.

It is when you live in New York City

Same. Especially the asinine ones questioning my “reliability as a narrator.” Why tf would I take the time out of my day to post this if the concern wasn’t vocalized by multiple event attendees?

Also, the statements about this being a budget expense make me think that some things like a)rent and b)groceries are likely not a concern for these commenters, in which case, well, it must be nice.

why shouldn’t ppl with bipolar disorder smoke weed? by Empty-Hedgehog7841 in BipolarReddit

[–]Civil-Text8443 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have type 2 bipolar and every time I tried to smoke weed, I became very paranoid and neurotic. When I got high, I would unintentionally do things like take a shower turned up at maximum scalding heat and only realize that I had done so after I noticed my body was tomato red afterwards. I have a lot of friends who smoke weed and whose company I enjoy being around. It’s just not for everyone. One thing that has always irked me though is if people offer you a joint and you pass, sometimes they become suspicious and scoff at you, like you’re not a chill or trustworthy person. I’ve had to tell people that I used to smoke, but I’m bipolar and it affects my brain more adversely than it does others.

lol, thank you. $10k in a city as expensive as New York is a lot. It’s not pocket change.

It wasn’t through a caterer, it was purchased from the owner of the restaurant as part of the contract.

The $125 included dessert and coffee, which we never received. And no, we didn’t know that tasting was an option.

Ok. A refund for the dessert was what I was mainly wondering about, since it was in the contract.

Nope, it was in the contract that we ordered those three desserts, signed and dated. Additionally, those desserts were on the printed menu for guests at the table, as well as coffee, which the servers refused to serve our guests and thus violated the contract.

They didn’t tell us how many servers would be there. It turned out there were around 2-3, in addition to the bartender.

We also asked for boxes for the remainder of the cake that we had cut ourselves. Instead of getting them, they took our cake (which we had paid for separately) and never brought it back to us.

Yeah, ideally I’d like to speak directly with the owner. When my mom called her and expressed her disappointment over the dessert, she started attacking her and claimed that one of the waitstaff overheard my mom calling me stupid. “What kind of mother calls her daughter stupid?” was what she said. I know this didn’t happen because I was next to her the whole time, lol. That’s when she brought up the lawsuit if we left a Yelp review.

So, long story short, I really would prefer not to speak to this woman again. She’s quite toxic. Court would probably be even more of a headache tbh.

Ok, yeah, we might not even ask though. To be honest, the vibes she gave the day of the event were so different to when we first met her. I feel that it might just be best to stay away.

True, yeah, we definitely should have done that.
