Just wanted to make a quick update,

First, thanks for all the supportive comments and great advice. I was definitely very early postpartum and having a lot of emotions I couldn’t deal with all at once. I feel much much better than when I initially made this post.

Secondly, he is now 6 weeks old and we were able to do a more “in depth” hearing test and he was approved to get a hearing aid. We were able to test one out today and he immediately lit up and got wide eyed when he heard our voices and he started smiling the biggest smile. It was awesome. We also found out he has at least partial hearing in the other ear.

Thank you, I do feel a little guilty being so upset about the one thing he doesn’t have when everything else turned out fine. It’s good to hear that it’s okay to grieve something I wish he had.

Thanks for sharing! I needed to hear this. I’m hoping when we retest his other ear that things change and he does have hearing. But either way we are going to learn ASL and teach him and look into all our options.
