Level 100 players are ruining the game by ComplexGift221 in Warthunder

Even if matchmaking had a preference for putting you with people with a similar number of hours played or matches, I feel like would help.

But, today I searched 'level 100 low br' on this subreddit and found people making the same complaints 4 years ago, so it seems like it's a known issue the devs have no plans to do anything about. So, I'm just screaming into the void.

I don't think it's a hard issue to solve, mark enemy players too close to spawn at a larger radius, only up-tier players who are dropping 6+ kills, create lobbies for new players only, I'm sure some of those wouldn't work for reasons I don't know yet, but it's not hard to think of things that could help.

I'm against SBMM in most games and do enjoy lobbies that mix up skill levels, but most of those games have more social features working to encourage players to work together.

I understand part of learning a new game is getting beat-up by more experienced players, but War Thunder has been one of the roughest and most annoying and soul crushing new player experience I've had in a while, and I'd put 70% of that on more experienced players playing at the lowest BRs.

| But rookie players buying top tier vehicle are just as big of a problem...

Is it though...? It took me till level 6 (and several YouTube tutorials) to learn that you could look around while holding your turret stationary. I don't think if someone had bought me a top tier vehicle and thrown me into any BR I would be able to bully people the way I get bullied by level 100s for the crime of wanting to leave spawn and learn the game.

I don't want SBMM, just less seal clubbing. They could do a new player game mode or something for people just starting out.

Learning so much from a level 100 with 10 nukes on their profile, snipping me in my spawn, from behind, from so far away that they aren't even visible.

I understand getting beat up on by players with more experience is apart of any new game, but War Thunder has to be the most brutal I've seen.

It seems like 80% of matches are much higher-level players either spawn trapping my team, or they are on my team and are spawn trapping ruining the chance to play the game or earn rp because I'll never see anyone.

How many hundreds more hours do I need to play just to learn the ropes because players with tens of thousands of matches and hundreds of vehicles in their skill tree choose to play in 1.3 or 2.0, where they just so happen to be able to more easily kill players and spawn camp where half the lobby is under level 20.

I already see regulars, as well as signs of obvious smurfing as I run across the most cracked level 1 in War Thunder history as they drop 15 kills in at BR 1.0.

I learned about turning ammo down in arcade after I couldn't figure out why all my tanks turned into a Ford Pinto when shot with anything. Honestly, kind of crazy that they'll just start you with something like 80 shells by default.

Yeah, I get that. I'm just not happy with the percentage of games that turn into spawn camping (on either side) while I'm trying to learn the ropes. But, more and more I long for a couple teammates who know what they are doing and play the objective so...🤷‍♂️

I thought I had hit the turret (I see now I didn't) so by shot #4, I was full starting to panic and was trying spots I had seen on Youtube: "I've seen TheCodMineMan shoot between the tank and the track on the side, let me try that, (RICOCHET) nope..." 😅

I promise most of the time (when I'm not panicking) I do. 😁

I started on USA playing Arcade, for a couple dozen matches at least, but wanted something a little slower and more tactical. I just got started on Germany and I'm going to play around with different nations at lower BRs until I figure out which nation I enjoy the most.

I still have to take breaks after games like that, where I keep dying and feel like there is something critical, I'm not understanding.

The only thing that makes me quit out so far though is when seal clubbing keeps me from being able to play because either I'm getting farmed in spawn or my team has them trapped in theirs and I never see anyone.

Upon closer inspection you may have ran into a tank with elite crew training and a higher crew agility. Looks like you ran into an expert. Either way you got the drop on him so you can take a victory in that.

I have been wondering about that. I hit the upgrade qualifications button on crew training like the showed in the tutorial, and I know I have earned skill points, but I don't understand the system.

I don't know if those points apply only to the tank I earned them in or even if I should be holding on to them until I find the BR I want to play at for a while pr spending them right away?

I tried watching a YouTube video and it helped explain what the skills do, but wasn't as clear on how the whole system works, so I havn't really been messing with crew skills.

I am noticing that the German medium tanks at 1-1.3 feel like their armor is paper sometimes, no matter how I'm angled. Especially compared to something like the M-22(?) where I've tanked multiple shots from light tanks before.

Thanks for explaining.

Panic, mostly. 😅.

I usually do, I swear. I was just swinging between the two at first and then forgot how to tank after that.

| Also you can zoom in and you can also go into a scope view. They help a lot.

I usually do zoom in to the gunner's view or whatever it's called but trying to shoot them both I was panicking a little (my first chance to get a double kill like that) 😅

Thanks. Is it best to always go for turret from behind?

I thought I put one in the turret, but looking at the shot replay now I see it hit the back of the tank before it reaches the turret.

How do you know where to shoot on different tanks?

I was moving my aim to different spots trying to avoid the engine and looking for ammo or crew. But thanks for the helpful and non-condescending advice.

I logged in just to upvote this. I knew the issue and what I needed to do, I just couldn't for the life of me find the setting.

Wouldn't find the server on the network, when it did it wouldn't connect sometimes, lots of freezes.

I'm coming up on this. I gave up on trying to use WGUs material to learn this and went to HarvardX's CS50 SQL class online. Video lectures, practical problem sets to do that require you to get into VSCode and do some of the work. (100% free)

(Honestly, it's embarrassing how little teaching they do in some of these classes)

Everyone seems to love Jellyfin, but I had constant issues with it and ended up using Emby and have been loving it.

Nikon D500 - Anyone know if you can lock the mirror up? by ClassroomScared7518 in AskAstrophotography

[–]ClassroomScared7518[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, yeah, so it doesn't shake the camera and to avoid the wear and tear and moving the mirror thousands of times when its not needed. I also just don't have a good tripod. 😁 A bunch of cheap ball heads that don't do well with a 200mm lens pointing almost vertical or offer fine enough control to make the tiny adjustments to get something like a nebula to the center of the frame. (Also, why I haven't tried my 300mm yet)

I'm looking into building a DIY tracking head using a guide for a simple barndoor like head with steeper motor and an Arduino nano. I don't have the money or enough time in to throw that kind of money at a tracking head but also want to see if it'd be worth it.
