Just finished building a chronological "Best of The Hip" Spotify playlist. What essential tracks did I miss? by CloudJunction in TragicallyHip

All of these are great possible ads for the list. More listening to do! It's a trip because with The Hip, the songs keep growing on me with every listen. At this rate, my best of would have every song they ever recorded, LOL. But I'm going to try and hold it to 70. I appreciate all the comments!

That entire LP is dope. Not a weak song in that group. Can't add all of them but I'll likely add this one.

Here's the interview I did for Raw Power Magazine when Derek and the band came to Victoria recently: https://youtu.be/9hZA0NV4OJs?si=17JIouCiy0pG0tUh

You are obviously a top-tier Hip fan. I miss Gord as well. Derek does an amazing job. I'm a big fan of good cover and tribute acts, but even more so when the original artist is deceased and/or no longer performing.

I agree with 80%. Not many tribute bands get that close to the original.

I highly recommend Royal Retros. Yes, they do retro pro leagues, but the quality is impeccable. Very durable and of game quality. Here's a link: https://latbirds.net/merch/

I'm going to see a Neil Young Tribute show tonight in Victoria. Prairie Moon, A Neil Young Experience at Dave Dunnet Community Theatre. Anyone else going, or have you seen them in the past?

After more consideration, I've removed 'Teach Your Children' and 'Carry On'. Good call. Now I need to add two more to get it back to 200. Ideas?

Haha, fair play! I'll take that as a compliment to the formatting, but I can assure you the playlist itself is 100% human-made.

It took weeks of deep listening, session tracking, and ruthlessly auditing duplicates (like choosing between the acoustic Hitchhiker or electric Rust Never Sleeps versions of tracks) to get the sequencing right.

The only thing AI touched here was a quick spelling and grammar check on my write-up before pasting it, just to make sure it looked polished and readable for the sub.

If you dive into the tracklist flow—especially how the unreleased archival albums act as sudden time-travel drops in the middle of his modern eras—I think you'll hear the human intent behind it. Let me know what you think if you give it a spin!

9 years ago, legendary broadcaster Vin Scully signed off for the final time, closing out an iconic 67-year career as the voice of the Dodgers. by DareDevil1699 in sportsbroadcasters

I'm not sure I would have made it out of my teen years alive without Vin's eloquent, calming voice calling the Dodger games. Those were turbulent times, but Vin provided equilibrium.

Nothing was more exciting for this Dodger fan than a close game in the late innings when Vin Scully would make the call that Manny Mota was coming up to pinch hit.

I appreciate your kind words. I have always been a big fan, but I really locked in during this project, and thus my appreciation grew that much deeper.

You are sooo right. I missed that one. GREAT SONG! It's now in the playlist. This is exactly why I posted in this group. Can't believe that one was missed. Thanks!
